I have a very well established Wordpress site that has been running for over 10 years. I use the typical Wordpress SEO plugin, but beyond that I really don't do anything to improve my rankings. I have a lot on my plate at the moment, so learning the absolute best way to optimize my site for search results isn't very possible. Any tips for hiring someone to help me out? I already rank pretty well, and since my site is so established I don't want to do anything shady in any way. I've seen a lot of people talk about hiring virtual assistants from other countries to help with SEO, but is that worth doing for just one site? Would utilizing those services possibly punish my rankings in any way? Just looking for a few tips to point me in the right direction, I feel like I'm missing the boat here. Thanks

You can read reviews on SEO companies or services and order a package from anyone you feel is suitable for your site. I suggest you start with the WSO section.

There's very little risk of a VA jeopardising your site because VAs act based on your instructions.

The best way to optimize your site is to follow all the sensible on page SEO best practices (keyword in title, alt, h1, url, and a few times within the body of the content). Avoid italicising, underlining, and excessively repeating your keywords. Then attract natural links to your site through link outreach or content marketing.

The method explained above is purely whitehat, and I guess that's what you are looking for.

It all depends on this how much time you are able to spend on SEO, it`s really time consuming and changes in alghorigm of Google are often ,the learning curve on using some tehniques and tools is also you should take under your consideration. There are no simple way to jump into it and avoid risk.

In your case I will probably use some trusted SEO service providers, there are plenty of them on forums like DigitalPoint, websites like freelancer, elance, or on WarriorForum (:

It`s true these days any shady techniques lead to penalization sooner or later, so you should pick the services carefully, pay big attention to the quality of backlinks they will build, of course you will never know that till you buy such service, but read some comments this should lead you to the trusted SEO service provider.

When you say you don't have much time to work on the blog, does that mean you don't have time to at least post to it a few times a week? Or are you looking to optimize your older posts?

It's already a full time job, probably 10+ hours a day all together. As much as I'd like to take care of SEO and learn about it on my own, it's going to take too much time.

You should at the very least make use of good on page techniques. Proper meta tags and keyword density are a good start.

If you are looking to build back links, consider building your own PBN or getting links from a good one. Some good links to your homepage should help you out a good deal if you have proper inter linking between your pages.

      I also agree,

However, if your looking to target further keywords for a broader market, then perhaps refreshing your content on the site to accomplish this will be of benefit. If your already ranking well for keywords you have, then look at what your goals are.

Are you looking to gain more traffic and visitors for a wider group of keywords?
If so, start with your websites content and conduct keyword analysis before diving in, build a new strategy from there, targeting new keywords to broaden your rankings.

    Hey Igneous,

SEO is ongoing process. If your site has good SERP rank than your competitors are must trying to beat your website. To compete them you should do something by yourself or hire a good resource to continue this process for you.

If you're decided to do it by yourself then try to add new quality contents, create new backlinks from high PR websites and refresh your old contents and backlinks.
