Few things on content. I know some say it is king and others say backlinks are king.

How do you guys keep adding originals unique content to a site that is locally service based?

I mean take NY Plumber for instance. After you create your main pages and add some posts on specifics about plumbing then what?

It seems so hard and most people looking for a local plumber could care less about 100,s of articles about how to use Drano correctly.

So what to do? How can we get in this content is king state of mind and keep adding more.

Most competitors do not have that many pages but I keep hearing you need to keep adding content. So what gives?

Do you just build your main pages and keep with the link building process?

Also I know content marketing is on a big rise as back links are on a decline (so I hear) so what other forms of content marketing work other than to keep writing unique articles? Social?

Thanks

To continue creating more content in a narrow niche, you have to drift a bit from your main keyword so you can think up other subjects to write on that are still relevant but not 100% to your main keyword.

    Think outside the box.
Go to fiver and have them come up with some fun and informative videos on solving plumbing problems. Of course link back to your site there.
Add videos to your site as well.
You can also add an audio where someone is reading your content.

If it is an industry that benefits from an educated consumer like plumbers- create an Articles section. Use it to publish informational articles aimed at customers.

Don't worry about people not needing the information (another article on how to use Draino) if the purpose is SEO.

If you want to hide them from visitors you can just put an 'articles' link down in the footer.

Problem with people owing a niche business where there is not a lot to share and if you don't have a lot to share then search engines will not let you up in the search rankings..

    Solution is

    1. Writing short but problem solving content on the site.
    2. Sharing the same content on social media channels this will create back links for you
    3. Creating case studies of your work. every one want to know a solution for their problem
    4. Create documentaries of your client visits if they allow.
    5. Take part in local events and share them too on your site as a descriptive content (food fest or any thing which matter to people where your are having your business)

    and many more ..

    hi,

you can even go for paid content marketing with sites like taboola offering it. you can write a great content and then promote it through this. the cost per click is also very low. that way you wouldn't have to publish a lot of unique content and after some time your this content would be too popular.

I am assuming that your targeted keyword is “NY Plumber” and you need to rank for this keyword in first page of SERPs. In order to achieve this feat, you need to check what your competitor is doing? By spying on your competitor back links, you will get an idea as how your competitor is doing content marketing.

Sometimes just adding a blog / news section to these kind of sites works well. Post some updates periodically there about your service. Tell your customers what you are offering "NEW". You may post some special discounted offers or something similar. In such a way, you can keep adding more CONTENT to your site.
