I am doing keyword research and just found that a page from hxxp://www.tomshardware.com ranks #2, I would like to know how easy or difficult it is to outrank it?

Also, #3 tomshardware page
#8 hxxp://www.overclock.net page
#9 hxp://www.anandtech.com page

Thanks

Nobody knows unless you specifically tell us the keyword and the pages ranking for that keyword.

That's like coming to me and saying, "Hey Icematikx, can I buy some spark plugs?" and then just expecting me to guess what model car you're running.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Suppose, the keyword is "27 inch gaming monitor"

It's obviously tough competition, Tom's is an authority site & OP said Tom's has a double SERP listing for the keyword (positions #2, #3).

But it is only a page not the homepage. Do you think still it is tough? As far as I know forum pages are easy to outrank.

Pages rank not domains, it doesn't matter If it's the Home page or an About Us page. look at the ranked page/s internal & external links.

A double SERP is a sign of keyword authority.

          They don't have any backlinks.

Become an authority on the specific niche of 27 inch gaming monitor and you will pass them. I mean like..seriously make videos hugging your 27inch monitor, videos of you playing on it, etc.

Tomshardware is a huge site and has a lot of backlinks flowing through it, they're trusted and have a lot of money backing their progression. You will have to out do them and slowly climb the ranks, if they see you passing them, there is no doubt they'll put the pressure back on and take you over. So be ready to commit to your business like its your life. You won't get away with 5 articles about gaming monitors.

Anything is possible, but i have a feeling since you're asking this question you are probably not ready to make the commitment to that niche.

Tom's has been on the web since 1996 & still very active today. They have links.

Links doesn't only mean links from other domains. Internal pages can rank other internal pages on the same domain, that's most likely why your seeing a double SERP listing (strong links from relevant internal pages).
