Does squidoo still work? Did it ever? Youtube leverage?

Before I decided to build a real online empire (ha. Well. Business that takes a year or two to work) i had read that squidoo was a good way to get back links.

I think it had called it an "authority site."


Is this still true?
If not are there any other sites to use?
I Do have a 3500 sub youtube channel and I'd like to know how to leverage that.

    Squidoo is nofollow, I believe, so their links are useless in terms of raising domain authority.

    HubPages, on the other hand, might be providing dofollow links for evergreen content with hubs that are over 75 in rank (internal ranking). However, don't quote me on this, it needs to confirmed by others. But my pages are dofollow from source.

    That being said, I have a follow-up question for other SEOs that should also be beneficial for the OP to learn.

    I have a hubpages account with 88 rank (overall) and some very good evergreen pages with ranks > 75. Will links from those be beneficial, harmful or neutral in terms of ranking?

    I have ranked one of my previous sites with some very popular hubs > 75, but that over a year ago and I'm not 100% sure if it actually affected my SERPs or not in any way.

    Hubpages bought Squidoo last week.

    The best Squidoo content will be migrated to Hubpages and the rest of the Squidoo lenses deleted.

    If you have lenses at Squidoo, they have a way of downloading the content you own.

    It sounds like Squidoo will be shut down once the transfers are done so I would be wary about starting new lenses there until the future is clearer.
