Hey Warriors, hope you're well

So I've had a new site up for a couple months. It's going OK, got about 50 articles up so far, and they're all high quality etc.

I installed webmasters about a month ago to monitor progress, and so far it shows 177 queries. Out of them, my highest search query has received 1587 impressions, but 0 clicks! In fact, not a single query has had a single click.

I'm not very knowledge with webmasters, so was hoping one of you experts could enlighten me on why this is and whether I'm doing anything wrong.

Many thanks,

Alex

Make sure your title and meta description is enticing to make someone want to click on it. People are seeing your link (impressions) but it doesn't sound interesting enough for them to actually click on.

What are the ranking positions. Usually outside of the top 3, and often outside of the top 5, that is about what you can expect.

    1. Close all your browsers & clear your browser history with CCleaner (free), then search your keyword with an incognito browser.
    2. Is your page still ranked in the SERPs?

Sometimes Webmaster Tools can be extremely skewed/outdated data.

Also make sure your looking at the Text SERP data in WMT & not the data that includes Google Images. Google Images will skyrocket the WMT data because Google loads dozens of images all at once in a web browser.

There's a drop down option in WMT to turn on/off search filters & only display either Text SERP or Image SERP data.

The default settings in WMT includes both text & image data combined.

It 's too bad result, it can be one of these reasons:

    - Backlinks is too little. Backlinks is not too important but at least for the new site you need to build it good
    - The SEO onpage: you need to make sure the quality and unique content and focus to the good keywords
    - Internal links: did you make internal links well and submit sitemap?

"Impressions" doesnt really mean that anyone ever saw your page in the SERPS

You could be result 73 and still get an impression counted, but nobody is going that far back in the rankings to find what they are looking for

Like Mike said, what is the Avg Ranking position in WT for all of these impressions? If it aint 1-10 and preferably 1-5 then that explains it

Or your Titles are simply not drawing people 2 click on em

I'm a little confused with the ranking position. In reality, I'm not on page 1 for any keywords yet, but webmasters shows most keywords avg/ position as 1.0 - 1.9. What does this mean? In fact, the majority of search queries are showing up as 1.0. Have I got this wrong? Am I thinking these numbers mean something else?

Also, in regards to people not clicking my site due to the titles / meta not being interesting enough. It's a valid point, and I could understand it if I was getting small amounts of traffic, but surely with 1500 impressions at least ONE person would have clicked the website link, even if the titles and meta sucked!

    Thanks everyone for your help,

    Alex
