Negative SEO Doesn't Work? I've changed my mind!

I've been rambling here for some time about one of my affiliate sites not ranking. I was under the illusion that Google was implementing some sort of "blanket" effect to prevent rankings for a while.

Well, I've just gone and checked the backlink profile. Seems somebody got mad at me back in June, and backlink checkers are only pulling in the links now.

Somebody has had the pleasure of blasting a few links at my affiliate site, with anchors such as "love boys" and "gay po*n".

There doesn't seem to be many links - about 10-15 in total what OSE/Majestic/AHREFS is picking up..

Site's also suffering from a penalty. Copy/Pasting parts of the content into Google doesn't even bring the pages up...

I can only imagine the links have sent anchor text signals to Google, and that's why I'm not ranking at all for the product reviews...

Oh well, win some, lose some.

301 redirect the domain to the competition page that's ranking #1, lol.

Not giving up on the domain yet. Just submitted a disavow file for all of the offending domains. I'll give it a few weeks before starting again on that particular review site.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!
