Hi ive started a new company up in quite a niche market about a month ago, I have been going down the standard paths of reaching out to blogs and reviews and scoring some good backlinks for free also got a decent social media rocking and building up a decent "follow" links from various places and doing a bit of clever spamming on keyword related pages and landed on this first page of google for a hand full of keywords an for th most competitive keyword im on page 5 at the moment

anyways the main competitor in my niche uses a star wars title and has lots of links from star wars related things even though the site has nothing to do with starwars what so ever and hi PR is quite high too ive analysed his links and there totally not content related ?

do you have to target your keywords at Content realted sites or do you just go for the higher PR sites to try and get some backlinks and juice from ?

I also use a indexing tool to get the links indexed quickly (over a few days )

Hi site is a very simple eCommerse site with next to no content whatsoever as well

many thanks for your replys in advance

It won't harm you to have but... you don't need to have keywords in hyperlinks.

Having the actual hyperlink as the keyword you are targeting really won't make a difference. If anything, just try to make sure a good number of the links you get are from sites for similar interests.

Google will see it as relative and give it just a bit more strength.

Always target links from relevant sites to get maximum benefits. You can decide one ratio to do better link building.

Like 1:30 (1 link from high PR irrelevant site: 30 links from relevant sites).

This way you would be able to make Google happy.

Niche related content is ideal. If you're keywords are close to your anchor texts, Google can recognize that as well, so having keywords in your anchor text isn't a must. In fact, its better to have a low percentage of your keywords as anchor text for links.

See it is all about JUICES. BUT...

Suppose ABC.com is your site, and you get a link from DEF.com which has backlinks related to your keyword, it will boost your ranking.
