I keep hearing that increasing volume for a query and making it rank higher on Google's suggestions is a good way to go these days so are there any strategies for increasing search volume for a query? Would buying traffic for a SERP work?

There are probably better ways to spend your time, but mechanical turk could help you with this.

I'd maybe have people query your brand name instead and get your bounce rate low and time on site high. So this helps average out your results for better search terms.

Hmm I never thought of mechanical turk. It will probably be expensive.

You did make a good point though. Thanks.

Buy lots of national TV ads and radio spots to advertise your product. Simultaneously launch a multi-million dollar social media campaign. That should help to increase search volume on the web.

Why bother trying to increase search volume for a weak traffic keyword when you could use that time/money to buy direct traffic from relevant sites?

Because I have two websites one where I am already doing that exact strategy. With this new experimental site I am trying to boost a certain query in search volume so Google auto suggests it earlier on.

I see what your saying now (auto suggest).

I'm not sure If this will help but it's sort of related, or could be related.

I'm in a niche where all my traffic downloads files (legal stuff) to their PC. Inside each file I include a clickable internet shortcut that directs traffic back to my site/s. I can send that traffic anywhere I want (sales page, optin, any other domain (301), etc...).

If you had a way to get traffic to download a free file you could basically do the same thing I do with the offline internet shortcut link that opens the traffics default browser & goes to whatever URL you want, it could be a Google search link If you wanted.

The cool thing about that internet shortcut is unique IPs & every single popular browser being used from all over the world.

Not sure If that helps but it's something to think about.

BTW, traffic will click internet shortcut links/icons from files they've downloaded out of curiosity.

What you need is SEO for organic search traffic. Link building and content creation.

As for buying traffic, that's not going to help you rank. Only SEO can make this happen. PPC advertising is a good option if you are looking for quick traffic.
