Add more content to landing page?

I'm looking to improve the ranks a fashion site I'm working on.
The main landing page (index) does not currently have much written content, due to design preference. I had a look at another big fashion webshop (Shoes & Fashion Online With Free Shipping | ZALANDO.CO.UK) and see that they have some written content on the bottom of the page.
Would this help rank for more keywords?

I would definately add atleast a h1 and h2 to your page with the relevant keywords where you can. Sometimes with these designs it can be difficult though!

adding a content block under the 'show us what you got' bit will help, definitely.

You also need better backlinks, do some research on this forum to find some posts. You will find people may tell you a few things but won't sit here and write you out a report for nothing.

Why don't you find a local SEO company and get a review and ask them for a self-build strategy or something?

P.S Some big ecommerce sites get away with no content but navigation image like yourself because they have big backlink profiles.

Thanks a lot for you reply!

Will see if I'm able to add some content at the bottom there, without making it look stupid.

Yeah, I realise they probably have tons and tons of backlinks.
In regards to that, I found a company on Elance, who offer to do 650 backlinks for $250. They have great reviews on elance, and their strategy seems sound. They wrote to me that "We do not offer too many links per keyword in a short time span - we offer what we noticed would be the right amount to make a change, without penalising your website. The quality of the links comes from the fact that they are contextual links, coming from optimised text, in theme with your website - so with a specific relevance for you."

Does this seem like a god strategy?

I completed research for UK terms such as 'streetwear' & 'urban clothing' when it all boomed about a year and half ago. Let's put it this way my research concluded that $250 dollars was a fraction of my projected costs. (I imagine US would be harder/more expensive) I can only imagine everything has got tougher as now every person thinks they can make 'clothing' brands.

        Does that help?

Like I said above, you're best off paying for a strategy from a reputable SEO expert / company local or national to you, learning it and executing it.

Otherwise your going to get sold and lose a lot of money.

Yeah, it's definitely a tough market these days!

Since we're based in Bali, there are not really any "local" reputable firms. Hence, I'm looking at elance to find people other places in the world.

Do you have any suggestions regarding this?

Thanks a lot for your help. Really appreciate it!
