Changes in Wordpress Themes for SEO

I want to change the theme of my wordpress blog. My question is are there any specific things that can increase or decrease my ranking? I used pagelines free version, now I want to move to idesigner paid version. I'd be interested to let me know what can happen.

I read about my new theme that there is SEO, and it is responsive. Actually most of the themes have SEO, but is that true? Are there any specific things that I have to check to make sure the SEO of my theme is OK? Actually the theme is not 100% responsive and I'll make modifications to make it 100% responsive.

One thing that I plan to change is the header. There I plan to post keyword rich title, registration form, some text and images. Is this OK? Can this help increase or decrease my ranking?

I understand that what is more important for Google is the quality of the content, but this questions is regarding the theme.

    Hi bodmov,

The answer is it depends. Generally, changing the wordpress theme will not affect your search rankings too much, provided the content within each webpage remains the same.

When most theme advertize that they have SEO, they meant giving you the options to set your onpage meta tags. A plugin like SEO by Yoast, will be a lot more powerful than most SEO options catered by the theme itself. I usually just use this plugin and disable the SEO feature on the theme.

I would go all out and find a good theme that is 100% responsive, so there's no more additional coding required later on.

As for the header, the impact on rankings is lower as compared to the SEO title, content, etc. If it is not cluttered and conveys a very strong message to your visitors on what your site is about, go for it.

    Thanks!

Your ranking should persist probably. One thing make sure, don't change title or description dramatically. You can make small changes to target more long tail keyword but don't make it complete new. And yes you are right, content matters so your content should rank as it is. Initially it will fluctuate but at the end things will settle down.

You can optimize your WordPress site with an SEO plugin, Yoast SEO and All in One SEO are recommended. Themes alone will not optimize your website.

I have already got theme that is almost responsive but not 100%. I plan to use it, because it is good theme. At the header I plan to place:

    - Text with H1 tags, no more than 10 words, and some of my main keywords will be there
    - Registration form from Aweber
    - Text with normal size, no more than 10-30 words, keywords will be there, but not with too high keyword density
    - Logo
    - Images

Is this overoptimization? I believe it is far away from to be said that it is overoptimizarion, bet there are people who suggest that putting keywords in header is something like that?

Although most of the blogs do not post these things in their headers. Most of them use their registration form at the right side. Why is that?

I do this because my conversion will be better that way I think ...

Changing Wordpress themes can hurt your ranking if the new theme improperly uses some HTML tags. For instance, I found a great theme on themeforest that I wanted to use. When I ran SEOQuake Diagnosis on the demo site, I found multiple instances of the H1 tag and the use of the H2 tag in widgets. H1 should only be used once for the article title. H2 should only be used in the article, not by the theme.

Be certain to run some sort of SEO checker on the demo site of the theme you are considering. Run it on the home page and on a single post page.

Great suggestion. What tools would you recommend. I checked with this seo quake, but to be honest I don't know exactly what to pay attention to?What other seo tools can I use? Also can I ask if any seo expert here, please check the theme, it is here:

    iDesigner Free WordPress Theme

It has demo, I use paid version.

I plan H1 in my header, is that correct?

    Please let me know.

What I found is that at the moment on my home pages all tags that point to my posts are H2 , but my post titles are H1

On the new theme these are H2 , is this a problem? Do I have to change this?
