Hi guys,

Revising our website and finding that we may have to work on keywords a bit.

Just need some clarity on a few things.

If lets say we want to rank well for keyword "web hosting" or "web hosting south africa" then how many occurrences on web, hosting, web hosting and south africa is safe?

Currently if I go view source and this includes all occurrences even meta tags on this page:
http://www.hostking.co.za/web-hosting

web = 30
hosting = 28
web hosting = 23
south africa = 10

If the word websitebuilder exists I also assume web is not counted as a occurence in that word? unless it was "web sitebuilder"?

What is the best practice or safest?

    Hi you really shouldn't worry about this as it isn't relevant any more.

    Search Engines are much more intelligent these days and the algorithms are more concerned with the quality of your content.

    Check this lady out, she knows what she's saying:
    SEO keyword density: lose this relic and adopt best practices

    Good luck.

    Hi Hostking,

    Keywords are always good unless you misuse them, here are few things which help you to determine use keyword carefully:

    What to do ?

    1. Choose only one keyword which best describe your article.
    2. Use that keyword at least twice in your first paragraph and last paragraphs.
    3. Try to use keyword in your headings
    4. Make sure your article title and Link contain that main keyword

    What not to do?

    1. Do not use many keywords in your article
    2. Do not use your main keyword too many times
    3. Do not use your main keyword illogically.

    Hope this help

    I think you are wasting your time in this. Instead ensure that you have genuine, in-depth content that is keyword optimized to a level that looks natural.
