Do do-follow links always have to have the rel="dofollow" tag ?

Ok , I know that no follow links have the rel="no-follow" tag ... but as far as do-follow links go , I have always assumed that if there is no tag that says rel="no follow" , it is automatically a do-follow link ... am I right or wrong ? I am thinking it is either a rel="dofollow" tag or a link that does not contain the no-follow tag to be a do-follow link ?

Links without the nofollow tag are "dofollow". The word "dofollow" doesn't exist.

    You're over complicating things.

Use nofollow if you don't trust the website you're linking to, or it's one of your competitors.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

There are many folks who believe there is a dofollow tag. They hear things.
They think they know things. Then these people go and set up an SEO
      business.

People think there is a dofollow tag because seo gurus go around using the term
dofollow. There aint no such animal. Never has been, never will be.

Leaving off a nofollow tag in no way, shape, or form, turns it into
a link google sees or counts. You can't force google to do anything.

No matter how you slice it, there's no such thing as dofollow. It's more like,
"Please, oh pretty please google, count this link."

That's correct, links with no attributes are do follow.

Nope. When the rel="no-follow" tag is not placed in the html code for the hyperlink, it is naturally a dofollow. SEO use the word "dofollow" loosely and can cause confusion to the layman. There's actually no technical definition for dofollow. It's either that a link has or has not the "Nofollow" tag. But it's really tough to say "no no-follow" tag, so I guess that's how naturally the term "dofollow" came about.

    Good question!
