The best SEO for our clients is not stricly SEO

A friend suggested I create a new thread on this subject, This was partly my answer in another thread.

I suggest, us Warriors forget the old-hat seo strategies. How long does it take for us to realise the times have changed?

SEO should be confined to building a site using Google's current recommendations.

A great content value site will be ranked--a site that attempts to fool Google with auto back-links or anything else unnatural--will be slapped, simple as that. It appears Google wants a fair level playing field.

If we do weird seo for our clients yes--they might be high ranked in the first instance after a spider crawl.

I know someone that works for them--the crawl will put a red flag on suspicious sites, for later investigation. That red flag will appear on some Google employees desk, perhaps months later, and anything could happen.

Warrior WSO's are still selling stuff like, "how to get a thousand back-links and be ranked high in Google etc."

Did you know doing that very thing-- might get Warriors Forum slapped? Are we thick or blind to the new truths?

Or still selling old IM crap?

Now as Warriors are currently one of the top IM forum sites in the world--where do you think that Google employee is going to start with his or her research?

IM has to change, not the old style sales-funnels and back-links, but new rich business ideas, that are real and wholesome, and a good practical business.

I don't think Google wants us to depend on them and our ranking for our business. We do our own marketing, offline and on, to build our own business. That might be hard work, but rewarding and relaxing if we know that ranking is not our job.

If we happen to be high on Google? well that's just a secondary prize for having a great site...smiles

Of course we are allowed to advertise, like any business--and pay for it, but that's our marketing choice--business is business!

Perhaps my point is, no business should depend on Google ranking, that is a myth nowadays, and not a Google ambition. You build your own business, and market it yourself,

Regards

Jim

p.s. perhaps we don't realise--selling seo tricks that are unnatural, might hurt our client eventually.

No, I don't work for Google.

Of which Google generate 70% of their revenue via Adwords and when revenue flattened updates such as Penguin and Panda were released. Seems like we are the only ones who see a conflict of interest!

Google control 68% of search and 67% of ppc - organic is 23% of the sales channel, ppc is 18% - so Google provide 28% of all sales traffic. Not our definition of a myth but there you go!

So if I am a real estate agent, and I know that in my town, there is an average of about 1500 searches a month for terms relating to people seeking a real estate agent and I am nowhere to be found in the search results, I should just ignore that and let my competitors have the top rankings?

    Brilliant.

I'm not advocating the "build a thousand links" approach, but to just sit back and hope that Google decides to rank me someday does not make much sense.

I go where my target market is. If there is a convention downtown for first time home buyers and I am a real estate agent, I'm going to do everything I can to get a booth there or have some sort of visibility.

Heres the problem with this thread

    .
Why? because there are people who have been doing SEO for over a decade that never ever did a thousand backlink SEO

three additional problems - if the premise were true the sites with the best content would always rank over the sites with inferior content - We all know that is not true.

The idea that a red flag appears on employees desks when a spammy sites is crawled is just utterly ridiculous nonsense. There would be millions of such red flags and it would bog them down like email spam.

Finally if the OP was right then SEOs doing SEO (again not necessarily quantity backlinkers as the OP claims is what makes up old school SEO) then how come eery day SEOs gain top three rankings that stick in many cases for years?

these SEO is dead threads have one thing in common

The logic is always nonexistent (dead in themselves)

Yes if you were one of the the kind of SEOs that bought backlink tools to spam the internet that no longer works but to say that was all anyone was doing in "old hat SEO" is just flat out false and much of the old hat still works and works for a LONG time - including buying links

Love these types of threads. Why not go with the tried and true "SEO is dead" thread title. In any case, SEO should be a part of your business plan. It shouldn't be the only solution to traffic, but definitely can't be ignored.

Google is not about fair or level anything.

Google is about filling their stockholders and their own pockets with as much cash as they can while trying to stay inside the confines of the law as it pertains to their corporate status. Anything and everything they do is a consequence of that pursuit and they're very good at it.

Believing that there are altruistic notions behind their motivations on any level including the changes to their algorithms or their pursuit of so called spam, is best defined as willful ignorance.

I think the legal term shouldn't be here.....if it were so, then ClickBank may not allow posting affiliate url anywhere you want.....

Google tries to lead, and it thinks that quality is the only way to lead the world... But one main problem with Google is, it has to award public voices (a personal blogger, a small business) so that it can create popularity among the majority, and the majority is the small business/personal bloggers/researchers/learners etc......... it wants to cover all....

Thats why it also fails to take care of only authority sites...... being too much talk of authority sites are very good for ranking......... you can also see that small sites of less than 30 pages are also ranking..... but not all small sized sites.....

It still takes care of the old algorithms such as domain age, authority, EMD, backlinks, content-quality matrices etc.

Your idea that "Authority" equates to page count, age, backlinks or content are misinformed.

        I'm leading this one....

This threads funny as hell, did someone put this up just to wind me up? There's a sweet smell of Heroin in this room.

Let's all forget all this business non-sense. Making money? Bleh who needs money right, not like we need to eat or anything. ActionMan, go grab the guitar out of the tinder box and spin out a verse of good old kumbaya.

I think I'm going to move to the mountains in Colorado to live off the forest fruits. Live out my days there with the wolves.

In the meantime, the guys who managed to miss this thread. Will push along ranking their pages, getting their business in front of potential customers and get fat rich with sales. The only thing wholesome looking in their lives will be that tall leggy blonde girl stretching her legs in the front seat of his Maserati.

That same competitor will eventually end up buying all the land surrounding my Colorado shack, and turn it into the worlds largest WhiteCastle drivethru.

From the top again.. one more time.. KUMBAYA........

One of my longest clients, a driving instructor, has been ranked #1 for 4 cities in the UK, with PBN backlinks. He's been ranked for 3-years.

The fact he's now franchised his business and has 6 instructors working for him. I don't think he'd listen if you told him to go the "google ethical" way. Do you?

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!
