RipOffReport - KillWebsite - Lost Google Ranking - UGH

So I took about 6mo off after building and nicely ranking my site. In the 8mo I was off (having twins) I received a RipOff Report and my Google rankings tanked. I run two websites, one that is local and has my business name in the url (and better ranking) and my national site. Should I kill my business name and focus more on just my national site?
If you google my business name, the RipOff Report comes up as the second link!

What is the quickest way to give my national site a swift kick in the pants and back to rockin' on Google?

Better question for: Search Engine Optimization

I would of thought the drop in rankings would be due to you doing nothing and someone else doing something. You need some new content, some new links, some new social media mentions etc... You know, all the normal SEO stuff which should be done. You can't just leave a site for 8 months and expect it to be where it was when you left it.

    Also congratulations .

One does not wish to help those that 'RipOff' others.

      Though,

An independent report shouldn't of 'tanked' you as 8 months is a long long time. You may have received it for something else.

You need to update the site if competition has reacted and go get ripped off buying backlinks to tell google your back

You need a reputation management company to help you.

Since your last domain tanked you would not want to redirect the old domain. Otherwise the penalty you received will be passed along to your national brand site, if you happen to have a penalty.

I think fixing your issues is your best bet and rebrand only as a last resort.

I haven't used this service before, what should I expect to pay? Do I just want it buried to page 3? Should I have it pushed farther?

The "report" is actually so poorly done (by my competition?) that it is copied and pasted from ANOTHER RipOff Report and only some of the names were changed to mine! :/

        Hello,

If you have bad reviews for your business name how you can attract more customers. What you will do if you found out that 90% of customer say that their buying decisions are influenced by online reviews?
A site’s on review sites like Yelp.com and RipOffReport.com likely play an important role in the algorithm. Google even posted rarely outline of their approach to user reviews after an eyeglass site was caught ripping off customers in an effort to get backlinks.
So it became necessary for every business owner to hire a reputation management expert.
