Google ranks pages, it doesn't care if it's a sub, root, www. or grannypants.com

People won't buy from sub-domains? Tell you what rank one and see for yourself. Nonsense to speculate on the nonsensical assumptions.

        I mean "Pages". Web pages.

A post is a page too, everything is a page. And Google treats them all equally by default.

It's whats done to optimize the page both internally and externally that will determine how well it ranks.

It will rank no doubt about it. But using subdomains for specific reason and good way will be better for main domain. Like concentrate on different countries...
