How the heck do I download BingSiteAuth.xml??

So I am registering my site with Bing and I have reached the point where I need to verify domain ownership. It asks me to download an xml file and upload it... no problem right? When I click the hyperlink it doesn't download an xml file and instead takes me to my Bing webmaster tools homepage. I cannot find the file anywhere else.

I have even tried uploading the meta tag into my <head> section and saved it but it doesn't validate. This is really aggravating and wondered if anyone else experienced the issue and found a workaround? I searched Google but didn't find any mention of the issue.

Log in to your Bing account

    Go to

Bing Webmaster Tools Left Sidebar Menu ... > Configure My Site > Verify Ownership

    Top of page...

Option 1: Place an XML file on your web server

Download BingSiteAuth.xml = Click this link to download XML File

Upload this file to the root folder of the domain you want to verify.

The file is the same, so if you add more sites just copy that file over.to the root folders.

Thankyou for being rude and ungracious to a tired soul who did indeed misread the
question but nevertheless went out of there way to try and help you.

I will assume you have solved the problem and you no longer require any assistance

Rude? Sorry, next time I will be sure to find a more tactful way of saying that your reply does not help me at all because I have already explained that method does not work.

You used the wrong spelling of the word "there". It should be "their", not "there".
