So means we have to get our SSLs to work with SHA2 when we have already bought long-term subscription?

You are behind the times. That has been on its way out for quite a while.

If you bought a sub, shoulda, coulda, hadda, oughta done research.

I'd say google is a tad behind the times as well, but perhaps everyone is
falling all over themselves because they drank the koolaid that secure
was going to be some kind of new, end all ranking factor. It's not.

Google should have been asking for this a long time ago. Perhaps they
acted because they knew once they spoke, people would listen.

I have no need for it.

On a side note. There is no reason for your SHA1 to not to be ready and
available for a changeover. If not, you are screwed.

But like I said, no reason to be screwed over. Word to the wise:
don't fall for ssl just yet.

I just thought of something else. Any certificate worth its salt, and used
on an up to date website server, platform, etc., would have little cost or
no cost to just morph on over.

Seriously. If you thought old technology was going to be good now, in
this hacking environment, then you were just not into being up to
      date on such things.

Not the end of the world people.
