The pyramid model is about tiered link building.

Tier #1 - manual link building and manually write articles. All links toward the money site.
Tier #2 - toward the tier #1. Use software. Each article spinned using the software.
Tier #3 - toward the tier #2. Use automated software also.

But... pay attention Penguin 3.0 which recently released.

Whoa there buddy. He said 2014, not 2007.

This is a great strategy to get your website algorithmically wrecked by Google in less than a week flat.

But in all seriousness, to manually build backlinks:

Find popular & trusted websites which have very strong backlink profiles themselves. This is up to you to find the sites.
Thoroughly do a SEO safety check on the website to ensure that it's completely safe.
Create your backlink and get it indexed.
Bonus: get the page in which you have your backlink on shared across the site for extra internal links built to it.

To get some real link juicy organic backlinks:

Create some amazing content
Get it noticed by the right people (People who may potentially link to it). This can be done through social media, personal contacts, or simply cold-emailing.
Repeat while your previous content continues to get some organic links built

Already an established business?
Go get your website into the Better Business Bureau (BBB.org) & the Business.com Directory and you'll buy yourself some highly Trusted & Powerful DoFollow Backlinks.

A few tips:
Please for the love of God stay away from Article Directories. Tons of the traditional ones shared around the Warrior Forum here are wrecked by Google Panda (Tons of low quality, duplicate, thin, and spun content throughout the sites) & Penguin (From people spam link tiering articles). You don't want any part of that.

If you're going to build any blog comments, make sure the post is moderated and there isn't any other spammy links on the page - You don't want to associate any spam on the page with your website.

Wait. I'm fast recognizing that asking ANYTHING in these threads is asking for misinformation.

1. Didn't Google just kill the authorship program?
2. Social media drives traffic sure, but the links are worthless and even that traffic is iffy.
3. Haven't heard this.
4. Didn't one of the last algo updates penalize guest posts?
5. SEO is the same now as always, ask for links - don't automate them.
6. Not sure what this means.
7. I'd say that the need for SEOs is lessened with the merging of company roles and responsibilities. Two birds, one stone so to speak.

Not trying to pick on you, but everyone needs to beware that people detour others on purpose (especially those in their industry) and that the best methods are the ones NO ONE ELSE IS USING.

According to me as all have discuss above that SEO is all about to creating the back-links for website. But we always found that Content is the king. when we provide quality and unique content then Google easily fetch our website and provide rank in search. we just need SEO to create back-links on high pr and related websites.

I think focus on good quality on page SEO and getting quality back links.

Don't focus on the volume of back links but the quality. Make sure your content is original and relevant to your customers.

Here is a pretty good interview with Rand Fishkin of Moz. The executive summary if your too lazy to listen to it is back to the basics. Quality not quantity on the content side. No magic bullets just put out good information that people will link to and share.
