Advice needed for building sitemap and using WPML in WP

Hello,
I have 2 issue that I need guidance with, any help is much appreciated
1st issue is with my site's sitemap, I'm using Yoast seo plugin , it generates the sitemap ( sitemap_index) , the problem is that the sitemap contains too many 404 pages which I cannot remove , I tried regenerating a sitemap , there is no such option,
How do I regenerate a new sitemap ?
2nd issue which also relates to the sitemap ( the 404 pages) it seems that is coming from Plugin WPML which we use for the foreign languages on site, however I see crawl errors and they are linked form the sitemap too with language folders which we do not have on the iste, we never did
such as www.domain.com/ja/XXXXXXXXX - ja is for Japanese which I do not have on site and never had,
where is this coming form? how do I eliminate it form sitemap and from GWT?
I run xenu and there are no links to such pages, yet GWT picks it up as 404 liked form sitemap
