Sonofabitch. Same thing. I love that tool. Hopefully it is just a temporary hosting issue. Have not heard anything though.

They don't seem to have any social accounts, so no way to reach them.

According to the WHOIS record of the domain, it hasn't expired.

Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2015-01-19

The owner of the tool is either experiencing hosting issues or has decided to retire it.

Backlink miner seems to be a pretty useful tool - one that I would purchase. I'd never heard of it until today.

For me, the biggest thing I use SpyGlass for is for analyzing domains to buy.

Backlink Miner has all these great analytics features, but it fails to tell you if the link exists right now. It is just pulling the SEOmoz database.

Out of the Big 3 (Ahrefs, Majestic, OSE), I find OSE to be the least useful. It typically has the fewest links in its database for a domain.

With SpyGlass, I can pull the links from Ahrefs, Majestic, and OSE and import them all into SpyGlass to analyze. Backlink Miner did not let me do that.

I also did not like that Backlink Miner capped the OBL on a page at 100. A link on a PR 6 page with 101 OBL's is a lot different than a PR 6 link on a page with 1001 OBL's. With this tool, I don't know what I am looking at. That is a big letdown to me.

For a brand new tool, it's nice. Might be more useful in a few more updates. For my needs, I did not find it worth the money.

What sucks is they tied usage of it to a verification check somehow, which I understand (to prevent piracy). But then they take the whole thing down and render all of the licenses invalid? That sucks. I hope it's just a temporary thing.

This happened before a while back and it was resolved in a day. the only thing that makes me nervous is that it hasn't been updated in a while and doesn't seemed to be actively developed (or advertised very much). Even so still the best backlink checking tool I have so its a bummer its offline.

I have no idea If the contact page works, just that it's still online which most likely means the Home page of the root domain just has a hiccup.

Its not the home page people are concerned with - its that the activation server is down and the software is now unusable because it "phones home" to that server before it starts.

  I don't use BM but looking at the ahrefs API it cost money (one example of multiple APIs), so BM must be paying out a lot of $$ to use all those APIs but they're selling a product that's a one time price.
  
  I have no idea how that math would work out to make a profit. There has to be thousands of daily calls to each API from hundreds/thousands of BM buyers.

  Backlink Miner does not use any API credits charged to the developer. You enter your own api key (free or not) and ahrefs is not supported (you can import the links in is all).

Has anybody heard anything from these guys?

My lisence for Spyglass expired last night and I wanted to try the Backlink Miner utility. But their home page is still down.

I would hate to order their tool only to find out a week from now that it's all going to end.

Anybody gotten through to their tech support? Ordered it with success? Anything?

I don't know what they are doing with their site but the program is working and some site pages are up. Considering its one of the best backlink checkers available the owner isn't really serious about marketing it recently which just doesn't make sense. It is concerning but all is well with the activation server.

Maybe a website redesign gone wrong.

A week ago I paid for it and downloaded it. Set it all up and 5 minutes later got a refund from them for the full amount and a note thanking me for my purchase. They were refunding my money because they no longer support it.

It seems to be working OK though.

Take it for what it's worth.
