How to increase External Backlinks

Hi Warriors,
I was checking one of my blog backlinks and realized I have very few external backlinks. First of all what is external backlinks and how does they works.
Second how to increase them. I have checked one other blog backlink which is not mine, and they have 60000 backlinks and that blog is only 1 year old.
How did they got 60000 external backlinks within just 1 year.
I know this is stupid question, but is there any simple method to build external backlinks.

    Hi vibhu, definitely it is a stupid question to ask without searching anything about it in search engines.
    External links are links which you put on your blog of other webmasters. If you add xyz.com link on your blog or website then it is external link for your blog.
    More external links means low quality website or blog.
    you can increase thousands of external links withing few hours by adding thousands of links on your website.
    There is no use of adding more external links.

    I think, you want to ask about inbound links not for external links.

      I think he meant the inbound links from other sites by saying external backinks

    More back link does not means that they helps to increase site or blog rank well.
    Is their back links have relevancy or quality back links? SE want quality, not quantity. If you have few link, but it have quality and relevancy it is beneficial for you.
    There are many link building method available for generate back links. Just do it by correct way.

    @Ravi: I was not asking about external Link, I was asking about external backlinks means links which point to my blog not from my blog
