    The answer to your question is in your post. Anything that is excessive is generally bad. So lots of expired domains redirected to your site can attract a penalty to your site, especially if the domains have some sort of penalty attached to them. And the kind of penalty it will attract will most likely be a manual penalty.

    The number of domains you can redirect is pretty subjective. I limit it to 2 expired domains per money site whenever I decide to use expired domain redirects. I haven't used them in a long time though because the last time I redirected an expired domain to my money site, it did nothing for my site's rankings.

    why don't you focus building legit links and legit contents? expired domains can't the beat pr of social sharing sites or blogging sites, what does it do good to spend money and gain less?
