My Content on other sites

I have noticed a site that has basically copied and pasted a few of my articles onto their site with no link back to my site.

Is this something I should be worried about from a SEO standpoint?

Is there anything I can do to get this taken down other than try to contact the site owner?

    It happens all the time.

There is not much you can do no matter what people tell you.

The internet is a free 4 all, and people like that "free for all."

It shouldn't affect your website. Google will mark the other website's article as duplicated as he already indexed your article... I hope your website is already indexed...

There's plenty that can be done.

You can file a DMCA takedown request to the site owners.
You can file a DMCA takedown request to their web host.
You can file a DMCA takedown request to Google.

Can outrank it, and if the whole site was rooted. Could cause chaos with rankings, if it's a weak domain that's rooted. Neg SEO at it's finest.

This sound more like article scraping spam though. That crap just drops off.

You can't let them get away with it!!!

It's not just one article...we're talking about a few articles.

And for all you know every time you put up new articles in the future, they'll think they have the right to just take them and not give you credit.

So at least hit them with a DMCA and show them you're not a pushover.

If everyone just shrugged their shoulder and said..."oh well...." the it's the wild west over again, where anything goes

No one should be able to blatantly rip off your hard work and be allowed to get away with it.

Scrapers sites are a dime a dozen, don't put your money on a DMCA going to a disposable email & $3 host in Somalia.

Or you could file the DMCA yourself

              https://www.google.ie/search?sourcei...own%20template

Most hosts, even the ones in Somalia. Are resellers of larger boxes. OVH.. etc. Find who owns the box, and serve them.

And Google doesn't care where it's hosted. They'll drop it into Chilling Effects for you.

There's a couple of other ways to get even the most off-shore of webhosts to drop a page. They just couldn't be discussed publicly.

I'm saving that one for my Memoirs!!!

The scraper site can outrank your original content page. The one that wins in the SERPs is the one with better SEO/authority.

Look around this forum, there's threads complaining how they've been outranked with their own content by scraper sites/pages.

It shouldn't mess with your rankings but i would file a DMCA take down notice asap and send it to the host of the domain. It will get removed and/or shutdown.
