Unless those sites (Lord SEO in the OT!! Whatever next!!) have the same anchor text and subject matter then the links count for nothing. Only relative links mean anything to Google.

If a site gets seen and SERP'd within 8 hours then it will be down to new content. It will stay high in serp for maybe one or two days, perhaps longer, then drop back.
