Nine Things to Consider Before Starting A Monetizing Blog

Welcome, dear readers. There aren't many of you here, but we're literally working on that. Best way to attract you is to write really good and valuable material providing new information for you. This approach helps to win the hearts and minds and we appreciate your feedback.

Why is this topic? That's simple - almost any new internet project starts a blog to attract potential customers and to strengthen the internal pages. But I would like to go deeper and reveal more of the essence of the matter, most of the blogs usually offer low-quality rewrite of the existing material. The fact of the matter is that most has been already written, read, reviewed and re-written. Therefore, I would like to get away from the standard literary trash and try to create a material worth reading. Before you start any work, you have to become familiar with the subject, think of this as your scientific study - you are trying to uncover the essence of the question. Don't try to rewrite a good article - you will not get quality, try to get more material instead, summarize it, come to your own conclusions, and then and only then you can try to write better than the next guy.
For instance, when I write an article, I never look at the percentage of article uniqueness, I have not installed on advego on my computer, nor do I have any other program of that kind. I write everything myself from a variety of materials found on the Internet, I convey my own ideas on my blog - you can disagree with my thinking and offer your own ideas and that is ok.

Let's try to get started and organize our work. I got 9 basic tools to drive results in your blog.

1. How much to write?

I'm often asked how much to write in a blog, how many articles a week, number of characters, etc., all of these questions are irrelevant, absolutely irrelevant. For example, there is a car with 4 wheels and 2 bulbs, a question - how much fuel is required to accelerate it to 100 miles / h? Sounds dumb, isn't it? A blog is not a trash container, you should write exclusive material, which has value for the reader. Before you start, you have to have a good understanding of the topic and be tech-savvy. It is better to write a little, but better quality.

2. What to write about?

Let's imagine that we are at a news resource and we write what others have written many times, will it interest the reader? The answer is obvious. I couldn't come up with a universal tool for finding interesting information, but I can offer some ideas.

2.1. You can search for information on the forums - people often ask good questions, they go to the forums when they can't find answers on the Internet. You know how it works, you google it first and if you don't find what you are looking for, you go to forums looking for help. When you have your answer from the forum, all you have to do is to fine-tune it and post it to your blog. Voila! I like this approach because it is very hard to find answers to every possible question on the Internet.

2.2. You can use third-party services, e.g. google alerts, serpstat.com. Jumping through the hoops, I login under my google + account and check my key, let's use the word "blog" from the name of this article:

Tick the box next to google.com, search suggestions, only questions. The free version offers first 30 questions free, and then you need to pay. Well, if you like me, and want to save a little, you can narrow your search, for example, "design of the blog" or "blogging" will make a list of questions shorter, under 30, and you'll save a buck or two.

2.3. I usually deal with web sites that have no visitors to speak of and need help to attract them, or which either have no blog or poorly designed one. I'd call this paragraph - "listen to your reader". Before you start writing, you need to do a lot of research and read a lot of interesting and popular blogs, look through a lot of comments, questions, explanations and clarifications. If you follow this approach, you will be able to attract the readers not satisfied with other blogs.

3. Competitive analysis

Any successful business manager knows its competition, including their services, quality, delivery terms and other parameters that impact profit one way or another. The blogosphere works the same way, if you want to be a successful blogger, read blogs of your competitors, study their ideas, methods and tools - that will help you with your existing work and might inspire new ideas.

4. Look into the future - foresee

You are a professional and you know everything about your product, you've seen changes in trend many times, but can you anticipate what happens next? If you can you are a psychic, go ahead and share your thoughts with the reader. Have you see at Battle of Psychics' ratings - ever thought of going back and change the past? Anyway, we do wonder what happens next.
If you feel that you know the answer to that question then share it - you will do a lot for your blog. If you sit on your laps, someone else won't and they will get your readers.

5. Blog and articles structure.

This topic is well covered - I will just briefly touch on key points. Pages of the blog should not contain other modules of your site. Some bloggers like to add a catalog of products or services, it is best to make a catalog of your blog making it convenient for your readers to find information and to add individual modules of recently added articles and latest comments.

You make a transition to the main page of the site in your header - everything else should be devoted directly to the blog: convenient categories, recently added news and latest comments.
Text on the page should be easy to read - review line spacing between paragraphs, headers, pictures and videos.

6. Feedback

Writing an article isn't the end - read comments and questions of your readers. Try to answer their questions in comments or provide feedback. Every satisfied reader returns and brings like-minded people. It is important to stay in touch with them, it will help you to develop and achieve success.

7. Use your own style

Dale Carnegie wrote that everyone was unique. You can't succeed by copying another blogger. Be yourself, find your style and use your style. You can't copy others and succeed, a copy is worse than the original, find your strengths, rely on them and believe in yourself.

8. Write with inspiration

Is it easy to get inspired? It is in people's nature to learn about something and then tell it to everyone, we want to be first. When you write you have to believe in yourself, you have to believe that you are the first - you need to feel the rush. You can find your inspiration by broadening your horizons, by opening something new, by discovering new world where nobody set their foot before. You are a pioneer.
Stop making a copywriter to write 5 articles a day - try to write one that is good instead. A good article will do more than one hundred reprints.

9. Social networks

You need to leverage social networks, you need to create a group and share all of your articles in the group that helps with faster indexing and wider reach.

CONCLUSION

The purpose of the blog:
  1. Show your customer that you are good with your subject;
  2. Help to convert readers into customers;
  3. Improve ranking of your web site.

Keep in mind that you need to tell them, you need to tell them again, and then you need to tell them what you told them before.

There are lots of benefits in blogging you just need to find the one that work for you best.

I guess that depends on who you're trying to attract.

Something I learned directly from this Copywriting Forum is that your best prospects are your existing customers.

Seems to me your strategy of flooding the forum with this "really good and valuable material" would have the opposite effect you say you'd like to achieve. You continue to drive away your long term, once very loyal customers (where all the truly really good and valuable material comes from), and are replacing them with... well, good luck with all these new folks you're working so hard to attract.

    What's a "Monetizing Blog?"

C'mon, man, if you're going to do this, at least pay a modicum of attention to your titles and language!

How about let's not post essays, keep this forum as a forum?

You know, you ask questions, give answers, post about things you've actually done and the results you've obtained. Actually done being important. You could also post about things others have done that you know about, things you've read about, of course, as long as you don't pretend you've done them yourself.

PS Many have viewed your post, 0 to few have actually read it.

It's an article on a forum by someone the forum doesn't know!
