Is Facebook too Expensive to Build a List?

Hi,

I'm thinking about creating a new opt-in page with some giveaways. I would like to create a list that will be exposed to various Clickbank products over the time (in the same niche, of course)

Now, is that legit idea?

I did some Facebook + Clickbank product marketing before (i was working for a product owner, not an affiliate) and it was ridiculously expensive to target US female 18-35 years old.

The margins were too tight, so we gave up.

However, this time I would like to try as an affiliate, to make a list first, and then start sending offers.

Does anyone have any experience when it comes to Facebook and Clickbank?

Is it possible to make it work?

Thanks!

Only building a list is not enough. You have to build trust with the list.
If you can build trust, nothing is expensive as you will get much more in return by selling your products or services.

This is typically not a good idea. Facebook is very strict and picky about landing pages with just an email optin. It can be done but can be difficult and risky.

      Hello Chris,

We have got two ad account disabled and we're sure our ads doesn't go against fb ad policy, but thanks to mention that "Facebook is very strict and picky about landing pages with just an email optin".

I think that was the cause.

      I was afraid of this.

However, I keep seeing ads that are ridiculously simple, without any kind of disclaimer or useful content.

Literally "Please enter your email here to get this ebook now" kind of landing pages.

I gave up some time ago with dropshipping because my partners account got banned immediately without any reason and any explanation.

And we didn't do anything shady, just causal landing page.

How to be sure not to get banned?

How to use Facebook to build a list?

If you are talking about facebook ads, yes. It is expensive. You can do it creating your fb page and adding valuable content and people to your page.

You need to optimize your campaign to get your CPC down. Once CPC is down, then email list will automatically become profitable.

      Hello Mabu,

Could you share your experience about building a list using bing ads?

Like what is your average CPL? Your ROI? which traffic source has converted better for you bing ads or fb ads?

      Thanks!

I used before Bing Ads before, but they became too expensive.

In about one year period keywords in my winning niche jumped from 0.25 to 0.75 giving me negative ROI.

So, what is the secret to your success?

Yeah man. Face book and google AdWords is expensive to build a list.

Luckily they were not the only way to generate traffic

What is a better way than FaceBook? I don't even think about AdWords...

    Is it too expensive?

For all of the people telling you it is, it probably is.

Your numbers will tell the tale. Just compare your cost per subscriber to your subscriber value. If, on average, you make more per subscriber than you spend to get that subscriber, it's not too expensive. If you don't, it is.

One thing that may bring your cost down is better targeting. Simply looking at US females, 18-35 is going to be way too general. Can you add additional qualifiers, like education level, occupation, interests, etc?

Yes, we tried with many different qualifiers, but at the end of the day - it was still too expensive to get real traffic.

There were some cheap options, like Network Articles or something like that, but that didn't convert at all...

I don't do anything with CB... don't like them at all... but I've
done a ton of FB advertising and I don't find it to be very expensive.

As John McCabe said, if your target is females 18-35 you're pouring
money down the drain. You need to tighten that up considerably based
on other parameters that would more specifically identify a typical buyer
    of your product or service.

We sell a product that appeals to a certain segment of the equine market
and typically receive $25-$30 revenue per dollar spent. Our margins are
approximately 90% so it's pretty inexpensive. The margins are that high
because we're the manufacturer of the product, not an affiliate seller.

The key is our target is so tight we're hitting the bullseye nearly every time.

I don't feel that Facebook is expensive for building a list John but I side with Chris; fickle, picky beast over there.

Building a list through blogging rocks. You share value, brand yourself and can use pop ups, sidebar forms and slider forms to build your list. Plus you have great leeway in crafting forms or squeeze pages exactly how you want them to appear.

That's a tricky question! And the short answer is, it'll never cost you more than you have to spend. If you have a budget of $5 per day, Facebook Ads will never cost you more than $5 a day. However, there are a number of factors that will affect how far your budget will stretch and the success you'll see for your money.

It is expensive, but the amount you want to spend depends on you.
You can set your daily budget, according to your need. As Facebook being is a massive user base.
Now Facebook charges for impressions, so this results in
    spending more.

Secondly, if once you build the trust of your customers it will help to build your list.

I think that you will need quality front end products to promote to your list. However, to really profit from the list you will need bigger ticket back end products. I do agree that if you are only promoting entry level products that margins with FB adverts are likely to be tight.
