Social Media Marketing - Any Advice To Get Me Up To Speed?

I know I am behind the curve when it comes to learning social media and I want to catch up fast. I would love to hear some recommendations from warriors on how I can do this quickly. I am not inclined to invest in a high priced product and am willing to put in the time to learn.

Thanks for any advice

Content is the key. If you want to build social media you need to give them everything you have and the law of reciprocation will come into play. They'll get to the point that they'll buy anything you tell them to just because they know you only offer good quality stuff and have already helped them get what they want. That said only offer good quality stuff that they can use. People who send one thing after another of useless stuff generally don't stick around for long.

Use Google Plus as your new Social Media Network. Grow your network and Plus 1's to your website URL or affiliate link by adding it to Plus-One-Me dot Com

As mentioned above by fellow Warriors Social media is mainly about branding YOURSELF by adding interesting content that can be of benefits to your followers like twitter or facebook. In reality what you are doing is creating a brand for yourself thus creating trust in which turn into profits. I suggest not being overwhelmed with everything all at once, just create a system that you can work with and build from that, whether it is the learning curve or establishing yourself within a particular niche. Remember create a system that will work for you.

Social media is a great platform for connecting with new people. As mentioned earlier you want to provide value instead of using it to sell products or services. Remember you are dealing with real people and one of the biggest mistakes people make when using social media is that they think they can hid behind their computer screen.

Depending on what your marketing and niche is the social networks I would recommend would be LinkedIn, Google +, Facebook and Twitter.

Just make sure you are posting good social media content that will help others and you will soon get a good following of people you can work with.

I really thank everyone for their input. I have a clear understanding of what social media is and how it works. I suppose my question should have been more clear in that I want to learn how to use it as a strategy as part of my business. I recognize that it is not where you jump in and try to sell things to people right away. I want to learn how to use twitter and facebook as business tools without spending too much time daily and yet growing a following at the same time. I understand that you need to add value and not tell people what you are cooking for dinner but need help with a strategy. Thanks everyone!

It really depends on what you want to use Social Media for. Your business? Your Clients? Self Branding? Lead Gen?

One of the best ways to learn, is to follow and watch people who are doing it right. Follow the leader...

Exactly....looks like I am looking for the leader. Initially branding and lead generation for my own business. Ultimately I would like to offer it to my local clients. Who might be the leader to follow?
