Social Media strategy

Hi all,

Just a quick question about social media. If you have created Facebook/Twitter pages for your site, how do you encourage followers? I've created a few pages on Facebook for my chosen niche, but I don't know how I should be attracting 'fans'. I'm having just as much difficulty driving traffic to my website...

Thanks,

Jodie

    Hi Jodie,

What you can do is have links to your FB pages on your website. Make sure its visible enough for your visitors to see. You should post quality content on your website so that visitors would not leave your site quickly.

To get more traffic, what you can do is to write articles with the targeted keywords for your niche and post it to article directories. You may want to post them to Street Articles because you can get Google Page 1 ranking in less than 24 hours if the keyword you are targeting has very little competition.

You can also have your website links or your FB Pages links on forum signatures. Participate in forums related to your Niche and give value to the threads.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck Jodie!

      Hey Jodie,
the fastest way to get fans to your facebook page is facebook ads, besides that:

      1. fiverr.com. fiverr has some gigs offering facebook fans for only $5.

      2. Embed your facebook fan page widget on your website. By doing this, you will collect additional likes/leads from your website.

      3. Integrate the facebook comment feature to your website. If someone will comment, their friends will see that.

      4. Set up a contest. For example encourage your fans to tag their selves on your fan page's photos in order to win a prize that you select. This will help to reach your fans friends.

      5. Post interesting videos/photos in your niche and encourage your fans to comment or like, simply by asking them "What do you think?" or "Like it if you find this useful". Again, this will help to reach your fans friends.

      6. Create a customized Welcome tab. It's a MUST. Instead of taking them to the wall, take them to your unique entertaining landing page. Use the 'reveal page' tactic to offer them a free e-book or something useful for liking your fan page. This will higlhy improve your like rate.

      7. Participate in forums related to your niche and have a signature linking to your Facebook fan page.

      and so on..

hope this helps, and sorry for my english, non native

    Hi Jodie,

For Twitter, I think the best policy is to 'follow' those in your chosen niche and only those people you are interested in. As time goes on of course, you will find that your circle of followers and followees (my fabrication) expands.

For FB, well...there are ways and there are ways. Are you just interested in numbers? If so, there are several FB pages that can help you do that. I'll list a few below:

    Get 10,000 Fans | Facebook
    Fan Page Promote | Facebook
    Addicted to Networking | Facebook
Network your business HERE | Facebook

There are several others; once you get started with these you will find them.

    How they work:

They have what they call strolls (the name might be different depending on the page). The strolls let you place a link to your fan page for people to like them. In return you have to like the other pages too. If you choose to go this way, I would suggest you create another PB profile just for that purpose and make that profile an admin on your page.

Now the reason why I asked the question about numbers is that this will give you numbers but not much by way of quality. So you might have a fan page with 3k fans but only 2% engagement. That is not a very good ROI. Of course if you share really interesting and helpful stuff, who knows?

Apart from that, I think you need to really promote your fan page - on your site, blog ... etc.

    All the best,
    Sharon

Focus on your content strategy. Pump out a constant stream of content that people will want to share with their friends.. on both your website and your FB/Twitter pages.

Or... use FB ads to grow your FB page and then drive them to your website and Twitter profile.

I think I will have to try a couple of the above. I found a site called nuggol but traffic is a bit low.

Please do not buy fans on Fiverr. It's a waste of money, and could get you banned from Facebook. Most of the FB fan gigs on Fiverr get the fans through something called click-jacking, and most of the fans you will get won't even know that they have liked your page, and will be pissed when they start seeing your updates in their feed.

As for Twitter followers, they'll either be non-targeted, fake or both.

Do yourself a favor and do it right, organically, or if you're going to pay, pay for FB ads and grow your fan base that way.
