Hi Abbs, thanks for sharing that Adsense theme. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on something. I have started a tumblr blog, with the purpose of having people come to it and clicking on ads and other affiliate links (so, not trying to drive build authority for something else; and only driving traffic to affiliate links.) I like that Tumblr on its own is such an high authority platform with its in- built traffic, but how can i add other platforms in a strategic manner. let's say I have a tumblr, facebook, twitter, and pinterest in the same niche. My goal is to get real people to each of these sites of mine, where they will either click on ads or links I want to promote. And I would like each account of mine on each platform to give weight and drive traffic to the other platforms. it seems there are various ways i can do this: 1) I can post different content to each platform (with links to whatever my targets are) 2) I can post exactly the same thing to each one (with links to whatever my targets are). Like maybe I can have every tumblr post syndicated to a twitter account and facebook account. I suppose for people on each individual site the experience would be the same, but this wouldn't help each platform to link to each other. 3) I could try to cross-link posts, in the sense that on any given site the links on a post could go to my properties on other sites. this way people might travel, say, from my tumblr account to my pinterest account, and so might the authority in the eyes of the search engines. However, similar to concerns with blog networks, in the sense that if might be possible to overdo this, and then I might hurt myself. 4) I could have links flow in a tiered fashion. 5) I could have links flow in a circular fashion, like a linkwheel. Well at this point I may have perfected the art of over-complication, but wanted to know what strategies you might suggest to harness the combined authority and traffic of these platforms. |

The honest and best advise that I can give is the following. Don't use tumblr to plaster your affiliate links they don't like it and you risk your account from being closed. Instead send the traffic to your own site and then monetize there. I'm a little confused about the social linking questions. What are you trying to achieve? A better experience for your users? better authority for your social properties by linking them together? A few methods for syndication that come to mind would be IFTTT.com - create recipes to syndicate your content from rss feeds Wordpress Plugins that will syndicate your wordpress posts to social sites With sites such as Tumblr then you can also pull in widgets that will show your latest tweets and likes, you can also create your own sidebar areas so it would be simple enough to leave a link to your other social sites. Maybe try to brand your accounts too - Try and keep your name the same on all social sites All should help and can be tweaked to achieve your overall goal thanks

I have never really had much luck with Tumblr. I just do not care much for it but maybe that is because I have not had success with it. May have to test this out.

Q1 - you said along the thread content Tumblr would not much appreciate our blogs if our sole purpose is to use it in order to promote ourselves.. so what if i am to post banners on my blog (on header, sidebar, footer, etc) pointing straight to my own website, a clickbank merchantīs sales letter for me to earn some affiliate commissions or a cpa offer? would i not be at risk that my tumblr account got banned permanently? thx a bunch mate and keepinī with the good work!! i wish u the very best with your tumbrs business ventures!! regards, |

Hey first of all, I just want to say thanks for that thread. It was great. My biggest question is let's say I want to post my own content. And let's say I found pictures from flickr/weheartit/deviant etc. etc. Can I post those and just make sure I add the content source of where it came from and I won't be in trouble? Thanks! Now if it's the content source do I use the source from copy image address OR the main URL? And...if I were to add affiliate links, how many am I allowed to? once a week? once a day for every 50 post? What distinguishes my account from getting banned? |

When you search for your pictures then use advanced search options to find images that you are allowed to use. On sites such as Flickr you will have options to filter your search by various license types. After reading the license details you should get an understanding of what is required. Maybe just a note of the author name in the caption maybe a author name and a link back If your unsure then try and contact the author. Make notes as to how awesome their work is and if its possible to come to some sort of understanding. With Tumblr then you can assign a click through link to your images. You could still comply with the license requirements by adding the author details etc as the caption but you yourself can benefit from the click through link. You could also watermark or stamp the image with the author details Adding affiliate links is always going to be risky - But many get away with it for weeks and months - Others might not last even a few days. Its very hard to identify how tumblr tracks such activity but they will Ban you for it. Its far wiser to send users to your own site and monetize there. But then others will argue that monetizing on tumblr itself is worth the risk. This then becomes a numbers game. If you are ever in doubt about images then use tumblrs internal features - Find awesome images on tumblr and reblog them - Tumblr ensures they add the track back to the uploader so all your doing is curating - It works a treat for many and am sure it will work for you too. thanks

I personally agree with this. Facebook is not the only social media that is recommended for advertisements and marketing. Tumblr is also a known social media that have a lot of users. However, if you want to have a lot of customers and clients, dont just use one social media outlet. Instead, make use of the others as well. This will definitely attract more clients and customers because you have a wide range of market.
