Anyone having LONG-TERM success with Facebook ads?

I'm about to dive into Facebook ads for the first time and one thing I've heard is that it's not a "set it and forget it" thing. "Banner blindness" apparently sets in quickly and one has to continually test new ads and switch out images, etc.

Is this true, and has anyone in here been able to keep campaigns profitable over the long term?

Curious about your experience and insights. Thanks.

Definitely not set and forget, but once you find targeting that works well for a campaign, it becomes a lot less work...basically just testing new images and copy. I don't know what you mean by long term, but I've had a few campaigns profitable for over six months and running...that is kind of long term in the FB world. Scaling up can be tricky, though.

      Thanks, Ryan, that's helpful.

Why do you say scaling up can be tricky? Is that because targeting is so important and it's hard to go wider?

      Thanks again for your help.

Yes, that's exactly it. You have to do some work to expand your reach while still targeting the same "type" of people.

I have used FB ads with good results. Generally I spend $32-40 to get a sale on a ticket price of $97. So I normally double my money

Pay Per Click advertising in general requires constant tweaking. You most always change the campaign and customize it to achieve the maximum efficiency.

I've had ads running successfully for 2 months, but yes, some ads have fizzled sooner than that.

I've also paused campaigns and created a new campaign of the same promotion. Sometimes I've received much better results on the second go-around with a new campaign promoting the same post.

I monitor my campaigns every 2 to 4 days.

What type of reach or conversion rate are you trying to achieve? I am also testing different ads and campaigns on social media.

To those of you who say the ads were successful how do you evaluate the results? I have tracked different links, monitored insights, engagement, new likes, and so on. Just to be clear I am not trying to ask how to track it. How do you decide after tracking your results what was a success or failure?

So far it is not working well for me. I did get a couple of conversions however the campaign budget was 2 times more, putting me on a loss.

campaigns are well oriented towards demographics of my potential clients. Not sure what i am doing wrong here.

Set and forget definitely doesn't work.

The word from Facebook employees I've met is after 3 day prices are jacked up. They all say never run an ad for more than 3 days.

Resetting campaigns and retargetting, and getting new creative, definitely becomes very time consuming.

It's working really well on mobile for me, can get around $.60 cents an install, up to $1.00 at scale.

One tip for fb ads is if you jack your budget too fast, the price goes up.. So if you start at 50 a day and it works great do not go to 1k a day one shot and instead go from 50 to 100 a day etc until you reach your real max budget. That has been my experience..
