    Facebook hands down.

It's pretty damn simple to narrow in on exactly who you want to market to.

Apart from the number of users you can touch, which is obviously bigger with Facebook, I like the fact that I can create a company page and build a more trustworthy image for the fans.
Moreover, it's easier to chat on FB with the people who have questions or need additional info about the product. It kind of gives them the impression that the information you share with them is strictly confidential and this makes them feel more valued as potential customers of the product. With Twitter, the tweets are public, so this reduces the intensity of the relationship customer-buyer.
One more thing, I dislike the 140 characters per post limitation from Twitter and I find Facebook much more flexible in this aspect because it allows me to deliver the exact amount of content I need my fans to see.

I think the social signals from facebook, twitter are equally as important as far as other people sharing your content. I truly believe Google uses them as part of ranking algorithm. Those two networks alone are used the most by brands so they can give Google some pretty good data as far as which brands are important.

That was what I thought. Facebook is easier to use and more effective because it is more flexible and have more users. Thanks for confirming and make me sure about it.

I will put facebook on my first priority for social media marketing. Facebook is still an amazing phenomenon.

It depends, but I find Facebook more effective (though I also use Twitter), it is just that Twitter is a fast paced platform, you'll be needing more time to update, more frequently to stay on the loop.

For internet marketing, Facebook is more effective than Twitter. Because Facebook has more users and features than Twitter. Facebook provides private chat and full character support where Twitter doesn't. So, Facebook is right option.

Facebook and Twitter are like Mercedes and Audi. It depends on your preference to choose either of them. For me, Facebook is the best; but for others, the best is Twitter. Choose one and go ahead with it.

  • Why not use both? Just link your Twitter to your Facebook page. That way you can use both and you only need to post once.

Well Facebook gives you some advantages as compared to Twitter like you can share words with out limits in Twitter if you want to say some thing you have to convert your words into 160 character. i hate to convert each and everything to short URL.

I see Facebook as flag-waving in the long-term, it's "a party" after-all in the sense that everyone is gathering there at this moment. Twitter is different, more news and communications - it's obvious given the frequency people Tweet in comparison to posting status updates on FB.

In terms of ROI, I think even though FB is 10 years old and Twitter half as much, it's unclear. Many of the leading marketers on both have voiced concerns about the effectiveness of advertising on the platforms. It has to be said, neither are as efficient as Google search and Adwords.

Another thing to consider is that Twitter isn't really good for direct marketing. You shouldn't link from Twitter to a sales page. Your best bet is to link your prospect to content that soft-sells your product or service. The more subtle the advertising, the better.

With Twitter, you really want to build a brand. Or, put another way, Twitter pays dividends indirectly.

Facebook vs Twitter is like comparing Apples vs Oranges. They both are social media and both can be used for marketing purposes. However, just like apples and oranges, it depends on your tastes or what you are looking for to determine which site will work best for you. You have to think about your target market, what you want to accomplish with your social media, and more. Thus there is no clear answer on which is more effective because each method is effective for different businesses.

It depends all on your niche which one works better. You can always use both. Create a FB page and a twitter account for your business. You can use facebook to post most of your stuff. You can get more value from twitter if you use it like an rss feed. When you post a new article you can just tweet to your followers to notify them about your new post. Twitter can be your news feed.

Facebook greatly over shadow twitter when it comes to marketing.

If you are not a celebrity or established who have built their followers base then forget about twitter.

With facebook you can run their PPC and much more...

Hello avajo71, In my opinion Facebook is better than twitter. Even you can also create your business page on Facebook.Apart from that you can make more and more connection to the people and chat with them .You can also share images and videos of your product on Facebook I know we can share image and videos on Twitter also. One thing I must say that its totally depends on how you manage your social profiles like Facebook and Twitter for your business purpose means Effective Internet Marketing.

It depends on which ones your target market uses more. Facebook is very community based and interconnectivity however I have noticed Twitter is great on getting the word out about short updates. It also creates a great "personality" for your business.

    This is interesting!

I want to solve your problem in just 3 sentences.
    1. Facebook has 500 million active users and nearly 50% of them log on on daily basis.
    2. Twitter has 200 million users and nearly 50% are active on daily basis.

    3. Finally if you can tap both these resources which are totally Free to use without any limitation then you can get laser targeted traffic at no cost at all. So all leave all other sources and focus on these two platforms and you will succeed.

Twitter has about 6.5 times less active users than Facebook,
and Twitter also has a terrible reputation because of its huge amount of professional spammers:

So definitely Facebook is by far the most effective
