Building huge Facebook fan pages

Hello,

I thought that golden age of building massive Facebook fan pages was over in 2010 when it was a big trend to like anything and everything but yesterday I discovered a fan page that is 1 year old and gained 7.5 million fans.

Code:
https://www.facebook.com/ahplus18
Any thoughts who and how they build such pages even today?

I believed this has something to do with there goal which is to make all of their subscribers happy, I mean I just checked the fb fan page and its full of humor, memes and other stuff that would make you pause scrolling your fb page and hit that like button :

Building such a large fan page requires a lot of personal trust to the fans and they either have another site to gather the fans or they gather fans from facebook ads. There are many ways to get fans on facebook.

There are different methods which can be used in this regard. It becomes easy when you pay someone to get likes on your page.

Yes it is somewhat easier to get likes when you pay someone else but we are not talking about getting 5000 extra likes, we are talking 7.5 million likes.
There must be more to this story then just hard work and money spent. Who created it knows a lot more than we do, thats my insight.

That's the power of creating a targeted, FB-viral audience.

They clearly love the stuff that gets posted, and the shares are going to help build itself everyday.

From the beginning started off with dirt-cheap ads (my guess)...

And then aggressively kept building from there

The story is most likely pretty simple.

He probably already owned one or more fb pages with a massive following. You just start to plugging your new site and around 30% of "active" people are going to join your new page as well. And these 30% active users are enough to make your post go "viral" again.

I keep seeing this a couple of times a year. Where a big sites randomly starts to link to a newer one, with almost no fans.

Buying fb likes via ads is never going to result in such an active community.

there are many ways to get FB likes but what has been most effective is posting pics that people will share, and asking them to share in a call to action. Heat-warming stories, cute animals, etc.

It has even been revealed that the NSA posted cute pics of puppies and kittens as a means to generate clicks and infect computers. If it good enough for the NSA it's good enough for an affiliate marketer

Well it seems like an easy job from what all you are saying, and I want to believe its easy

I will hire anyone who can create such a page (does not have to 7.5 million likes, 500K likes is enough)

Just keep in mind, 500K likes is going to come with a reasonable price tag.

Even if they got .01 per like in the beginning to get, say 250K Likes...

You are looking at $2,500... and double that amount if they had .02 per like.

The daily budget and niche will greatly affect those numbers, too.

Plus: paying for time ad spend, social media management.

Just giving you an idea of how much you'd be looking at

My guess would be at least 5K

I understand its going to cost and that is not the issue. But then again, does the above proposed fan page look like someone spent $75 000 to build it?

I can pay Facebook directly a million dollars to build a page of 7 million fans, or I can find a person who can create it such as the person who created the page we are talking about. Thats what I am after.

At the beginning months they might be purchased 100k-200k likes from others. And got some targeted likes. Then now they might be getting more viral likes.

When you think about it... Those guys who built this fan page know something that we dont. I mean if it were that simple why dont we all go and create a stupid fan page filled with garbage images and build 7.5 million fan base?

This stuff does not happen on its own and also it does not happen in a year while using standard marketing techniques. Who has tried to create a fan page will catch my drift...

From my experience it requires considerable persistence, resilience and some kind of cash flow...

You can go a long way with $1000 if you use it wisely and develop a targeted audience.

My key point is to first think about exactly what action you want your ideal visitor to take.
    1. to like the fanpage
    2. to comment
    3. to share etc

first work out what you want them to do and then tailor content that will serve that purpose. It is quite true that certain content promotes certain action.

    7.5 million is huge.
500k is huge when you're starting from scratch.

As with most things online it needs a plan, diligence and determination.

    Thanks

Sorry but I have to disagree here.

That's what I thought as well. As I've started my funny picture website Epic Pix » Like 9gag – just funny. and the facebook page: www.facebook.com/epicpixcom - now after spending $200 on fb ads, see where it took my fb page. It's almost dead, even tho the content is good (I'm running similar sites since 10 years, I know what's working) - but still the content doesn't get shared.

Want to know why? Because fb distributes your post to a small portion of users, if they don't like it, fb hides the post for all others. The fans I've accumulated through the fb ads I was running, were to 90% fake likers, means people getting paid to like stuff (I never paid them, but they just like EVERYTHING, to hide from FBs spam detection). That means you end up having a ton of "dead" fans, which kill your page. I've never been able to recover from this, as it's not possible to mass delete fans, you can only manually delete them one by one...

I wrote an extensive blog article about this issue: Facebook Marketing 1 on 1 - 1kSociety - check it out, before you spend money on fb ads for pages.

Facebook Questions feature is an interesting way to generate traffic to your page, and it’s completely free. Contests, promotions and sweepstakes are great ways to go out and grab attention. People will enter, and when they do, serve them with a share prompt so they can advertise your page for you. Create a welcome page that lets visiting non-fans know what’s in it for them, whether it’s fan-only coupons and specials, or just important status updates.Facebook ads are inexpensive, especially if you’re targeting a niche audience.

Its not easy. I check out that page and I found two main things behind it that they post regular basis and interesting MEMEs. Possibly one more thing that paid advertising work a lot.
