My facebook reach has completely died

My facebook reach has completely died the past two months. I have a small facebook page of 8000 people, and when I would show a picture two months ago without a boost at all it would usually go from 500 to 3000 reached. Now I get like 30. What gives? What is everyone else's experience like?

Facebook is trying to protect the quality of the News Feed.
Facebook now filters its feed and has built a News Feed sorting algorithm, EdgeRank.
So everyone has to earn their space in News Feed. If you publish posts that are interesting enough to get likes, comments, shares, and clicks, your reach increases.
If your posts bore people and they become ignored and scrolled past by anyone who sees them, your reach decreases. And since the natural trend is for reach to shrink as competition grows, Pages now have to work harder and harder to stay visible......it's all about engagement!

I have noticed exactly the same thing happening to my Facebook reach also. I understand Facebook's rationale behind the idea, but I feel it is a catchy 22. Facebook want to reward people who have more comments, shares, clicks etc with improved reach via their news feed, but you need that reach in the news feed to get the comments, shares and clicks to begin with. It seems the only people to benefit are the ones who already have a large powerful social media presence to start with, or perhaps get lucky with the one post in a billion that goes viral.

Shame Facebook, you had the makings of a half decent platform once

Try posting original content instead of the same rehashed garbage that's being posted over and over again. The original content I'm posting is getting a lot more engagement than the stuff I'm scheduling from other sources.

I've noticed small changes in the last two months, but nothing like you described. These days our lower posts reach about 1 person for every 5 followers on our page, which is a little down from a couple months ago. That said, our best posts hit 5 to 30 people for every 1 follower on the page, which is even better than before. This is pretty much in line with what Facebook has said about how EdgeRank works, so I don't think it's surprising.

If you're really only reaching 3 people for every 80 followers, you might want to rethink your social media strategy: how often you post, what kind of things you post (for us visuals are key) and the type of people you target -- or even if Facebook is your best medium for reaching the people you want to reach. Now more than ever, Facebook is more about engagement than the sheer number of followers. But ultimately you're posting with the end result of supporting your business, so even if you have high engagement, if nobody is buying from you, you're not succeeding either.

      Good luck!

I agree with Jimmy, it is all about engagement. And of course, you'll get what you pay for.
After all, facebook is still a business.

It doesn't take a huge budget to take advantage of Facebook's new algorithms. $5 to $10 bucks spent here and there to boost a great post can go a long way toward pumping up the engagement on all of your posts.

I think this is the REAL reason. What you once got for free FB now
wants you to pay for. They are trying to monetize every aspect of their
      platform.

I still can't figure it out, how many times should I post? Once a day? Or 3-4 times a day? I used to think once a day is enough. Many people claim the second option (3-4 times a day) is the best for increasing your reach, but I'm not really sure.

    1. Use Page Insights to find the best times to post. I like posting 3-4 times in a day.
    2. Schedule posts to get posted on your page's best times. Personally, I use FPTraffic to schedule my posts.
    3. You will see the some posts will perform than the others (especially the unique ones). Boost these posts to increas the reach and boost.
    4. Soon you should see an increase in the reach of the page.

*FPTraffic is an amazing tool by Luke it has made it easy to build my fan pgaes.
I highly recommend it if you are looking to build facebook pages and monetize them with CPA, Amazon, etc Luke also has added some great guides too.
For $10/month its a total steal.
