Why I pay $1,70/like?

Several days ago I started a paid facebook campaign. I targeted people from US only, interested in my niche - paid surveys. When I run the same ad but for sites, it shows average about 60 cents/click. $10/day.

When I started my campaign for likes, I pay $1,70? Why is that?

What can I make to decrease my price, and what are the most important factors for facebook ads.

Please let me know, I'm new to facebook.

Hope you'll help me.

So the price per like is really just an average that you are paying.

Facebook ads are served on a CPM basis (no matter what your objective is) so you will always be charged when your ad is shown to someone. So the "Price Per Like" simply shows how much you are paying on average to get each like.

The best way to bring down this cost is to target correctly and increase your CTR. As your CTR increases, you'll be getting more likes (most likely) per thousand times your ad is shown, so your "Price Per Like" will decrease.

One of the more important parts of increasing CTR is making sure you have an attractive image that pops out and makes the users want to click on it. People suggest to put a red border around the image to make it pop off the page, I don't have any personal data on how well this works, but it's worth a try (since you get like 6 images per ad).

    I hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply. What average price can I expect? I'll try to change some things, but it is not easy ...

I'm not interested to pay more than 30 cents and I pay much more ...

    Please give me more tips.

It all depends on your CTR, and if your page looks good.
High CTR gives cheaper prices, and after people visit your page, the page's quality determines whether they'll actually like your page.
I've used tons of different ads over the last 2 years, and with the best ads (and targeting), I've gotten down to $0,08 per like with USA as my target audience (which is one of the most expensive ones).
Try many different photos, different copy, and make sure your page is good enough for people to want to follow it.
