Personally, I have found Fanpage Likes to be more effective for marketing and promotional purposes than Twitter Follwers. Not saying that Twitter is inefficient, but FB fans are much more responsive and tend to take action..

    I think Facebook is best when it is for promoting eCommerce websites or dynamic websites, which is more about sales and promotions. And Twitter works best when it is news, updates or blog.

    To get huge attention on Twitter you need to get your Tweets ranked on page one. To do this you need to use hastags effectively and get loads of retweets and favourites.

    I personally think Twitter will always be a more difficult network to maintain engagement on just because of the speed of its feed. It's real-time and most users will follow hundreds (maybe thousands) of users. A single tweet can be swallowed up in seconds. Facebook is much slower and posts can get picked up hours later.
