I think Pinterest, Youtube and Facebook are the main 3 traffic platform out there.
Am I right? or wrong? Is there any platform that has a massive traffic generation for websites?

If you are doing great at these 3 platform then you already have a massive traffic to your website.

I get a boatload of Twitter traffic believe it or not lol.

Whether or not it contributes to sales, who knows... (My last blog post has 62 social shares, most of which derived from Twitter).

    I'll take it.

To me pinterest has yet to prove it's monetizing value, perhaps I haven't tried correctly. But a marketer can just stay within the FB universe and generate extreme incomes.

Twitter drives tons of traffic for me. It doesn't covert into many sales but I've recently started using that traffic to finally grow my list and I've seen more conversions.

Pinterest also works for me but lately it's been unreliable so I'm hoping I can pick that back up.

I'm do really good with youtube, but Pinterest definitly is showing some promise for me as well. It is great as a round about. I can post my youtube videos to a pinterest board which creates links back to my youtube channel which is funneling traffic to my website. Almost a sort of triangle of trust technique. So in effect the traffic coming from pinterest for me is already extremely pre-conditioned.

    It depends on the topic.

    - Facebook is mostly useless for many 'meaty' niches.
    - Twitter is useless for what we all do here on WF. It's just text messages, but public.
    - Pinterest is mostly women sharing pictures. That can be great for some, but useless for others
    - Youtube probably has the best consist traffic across niches, but there's a big initial investment of time (or money) to get good ROI

Social media in general may not be needed. It depends on what you're doing.

I think it depends on the niches, I agree that it works for some niches and it didn't work for others.

Diversifying away from G's search is certainly a good thing... and you're hitting the nail on the head with that... I while back I set up some quizzes on FB like you see for buzzfeed etc. and was amazed that after a small amount spent on the ads that it went viral.... The amount of traffic that kept coming was awesome, especially when I compared it to time and effort spent on SEO and PPC.... But that said it peaks and then falls down with this particular approach... But still the time to do that is an excellent ROI for a couple of hours of effort....

Pinterest is niche dependent. Rest both can be utilized to work with any niche if you know the right tricks.

I would add Google+ to the list. I get a ton of views (though little interaction) on G+ but posts are indexed instantly so can give a seo boost to a page if used with keywords and a link to the page you want to help rank.

Pinterest works so well because it's a very visually stimulating site. Though you need a niche that appeals to the biggest demographic on Pinterest (usually women) and if you have a site about fashion, bridal accessories, hair products, mom related issues or beauty tips, then it should work out well for you.

The best way to find out what Pinterest users want to see is to check out the homepage where you will see the most popular/shared posts on the site. You can copy what's going on there or add your own original content that is similar.
