I went 'viral' on stumbleupon

Hey guys,

I actually promote my site on Facebook, Google plus and Pinterest but for some reason my article went viral on stumbleupon. I got about 6000 stumbles in just a few days but now it has seem to stopped climbing. Does this mean some popular stumbler who has a large following shared my link? Cause it made me interested in stumbleupon as a traffic source Anyone have good experience with this?

The same thing happened to me. One of my posts went bonkers on Stumbleupon, and Hostgator almost shut me down! I think that if you get a certain number of likes for your post, then it gets on the front page of that category, if you see what I mean.
Although the traffic is nice, stumblers don't seem to hang around or share. If there is anyway to encourage them to look further ( apart from having excellent content, of course!) I would love to know!
I get constant traffic from them, but it is rarely profitable.

Well luckily I have a great webhoster, so I won't be having that problem But for me it would be worth it to get a constant stream of traffic as it's a great way to promote my content. But it does seem that they only hang around on the stumbled post and don't continue elsewhere on the website.

That's cool. It's always neat when something like that happens. Unfortunately StumbleUpon traffic isn't so hot in terms of conversions... but it's a good start!

Arghh must be awesome to have a windfall gain like that, was there anything special about that post. Perhaps try the same strategy with another post, and see if it happens again.

I agree with this. There must be something really really special with that posts. Also, i guess it's something to do with the content. People wouldn't care unless it's really a awesome content.

Well I did do my best to make it awesome It's part of my strategy of creating long, interesting posts that really help out on a certain subject. My English is not the best, but I think it's good enough to be informative in the travel niche I'm in.
