So I currently have a pretty decent sized gaming channel already on Youtube. The problem I have is that the gaming niche is pretty cornered with the bigger players but with hard work you can establish your own corner and I know this.

However as of late, I have been getting massive interaction on a Facebook fanpage that I run for a popular TV show and I had a post recently go viral with 200k reach, 70k views, and 1,500+ shares.

It got me thinking. If I can get better engagement on videos using Facebook. Why wouldn't I be able to start a "channel" on Facebook and post gaming content just like I do on Youtube? This is a new approach that I've yet to see and I feel like with consistent work and effort I could essentially build a larger community quicker on FB then direct that traffic to my Youtube channel. Reverse engineering the process almost.

Let me know what you think!

I think that could work very well if done right. You could also use FB ads to target people who have already liked the FB pages you are similar to, to get targeted people to your videos/FB page.

I believe so too. The gaming community loves to share tips, tricks and glitches with their friends which are largely on Facebook. With this approach, instead of sharing the Youtube link to their Facebook friends they can just tag them in the raw video or share it to their wall.

    I am confused.

Isn't that just creating a new Facebook page specific to your gaming channel, or am I missing something?

By the way, I would love to hear some of your tips for gaining massive interaction on Facebook pages.

I would be starting the process ass backwards. Using my Facebook page as a Youtube channel uploading my content and interacting with the fans + advertising. Facebook has the ability to provide almost instant traffic for content as opposed to Youtube's slower exposure.

With this in mind. I would then link my content out to my Youtube channel in order to ensure I can capture fans and expose them to Youtube ads so I can take my cut.

Essentially. Just using Facebook as a traffic driver to jump start the process as there is more instantaneous social action on Facebook as opposed to Youtube.

As for my methods on Facebook interaction. Please feel free to PM me.

Ah, I get it now! That's an interesting idea. You should make a case study of it, then use it as a giveaway to build a mailing list or something. :-)

    I'll PM you now. Thanks!

That's an interesting concept, I think it may work out well for you. It's so much easier to run ads on Facebook, and its easier to share content too. If you do make a case study as said in the post above, let the warriors know too. I would love to have a look.

Than a case study you shall have! Be sure to follow this post as I will update along the way. It may take me a few days to a week to get things rolling. I'm purchasing some better hardware (microphone, etc) in the coming days so my content is on hold until then.

Glad to know that I have an interesting idea!

Well, I think FB is not really suited to be a place where you watch videos. I mean user experience.
Are you saying that every time you post video on FB, you get more likes, comments than on YT video page itself? It would be breakthrough, if you made your FB page more important than YT channel.

Facebook is a powerhouse for video. You're quite mistaken. Vine videos & pages have taken over with millions of likes and thousands of shares. And Facebook is a quicker, more direct way to generate traffic and engagement compared to Youtube.

It'll work and it's worked well for many other sites. buzzfeed generates about 60 million visits from Facebook a month organically. To maximum traffic from Facebook:

    1. Create many Facebook fan pages. Each page is for a very specific niche. buzzfeed has 50 - 100 fan pages.
    2. Drive traffic from Facebook groups. 700 million people use Facebook groups monthly.
    3. Enable Facebook comments on your site so you could generate traffic from other people's fan page. This won't work for a Youtube channel.

I'd have to disagree. You can drive Youtube traffic with Facebook just as you can to a website.

OP, why not you work both on Youtube and Facebook simultaneously?

By the way, I'm working on studying about viral posts and your post about one of your posts going viral is timely. Could you please share that post link here and the methods you used to promote it?

People are on Facebook more often and check it many times a day, so I think it's a great idea.
