I find I don't get a lot of interaction with G+ pages, but they get a lot of views and articles added are instantly indexed by google which can help you boost a page you link to from the post, etc. So from an SEO standpoint, G+ is definitely a must have I think.

    So true,
people on facebook are lesser interested in technical part. But on G+ people focus on tech part also.

G+ is the great source for getting traffic or publicizing the blog post

Build a G+ page, share at least weekly updates, use the same main htags on almost all posts, follow and engage only with people from your niche.

Let's get a couple of facts straight... Facebook is a completely walled Garden, expect for Public Pages and a few other exceptions. Facebook in the long run wants to own how people interact with content on the Internet and eliminate you even needing to leave their safety nets.

Take a look at Facebook new mobile Browser... It's Facebook's first attempt, and pretty good one, at making sure you never have to leave Facebook to get the content and media you want.

Facebook was never a Search Engine company and never will be...

Google, on the other hand is completely committed to helping you find the websites you are looking for, because there business model relies on it - on getting visitors from Point A (Google Search) to Point B (Website) with ads in between to lubricate the whole process

You really don't get any benefit, in terms of Search Engine Optimization with Facebook. Every like is tracked by Facebook - not Google.

When people visit Facebook they are NOT IN THE BUYING MODE, because that's not what Facebook was originally intended for.

When people visitor Google there is a good change THEY ARE IN THE BUYING MODE, and are more likely to be in the mindset of purchasing a product, because they are searching for it.

Facebook is a really SHITTY place for finding people to buy your product.

Google is a really GREAT place for finding people who are ready to buy your product.

The question is do you think Google will give you major kudos points for using there system... I would give that a big fat "F*CK Yeah!"

Well, G+ is nice method of traffic. But FB is more targeted and if you know how to advertise properly, it will brings you nice and cheap clicks to your website.

Never underestimate Google +. You won't exactly see the interaction like facebook users has on G+ but it really brings traffic. Google+ is a product of Google. Once you make yourself visible in G+, you make yourself practically visible in the whole Google ecosystem.

I agree Google+ has a lot of potential, but I am not sure if it is more powerful than Facebook. I think both of them have their Pros and Cons.

What makes you think that G+ is more powerful than Facebook?

I created this page for a company
I spent 3 months on it while working on other buisness pages
Notice the 6 million pages views in 3 months?
Would you get 6 million views on facebook in 3 months?
Also the hash tag is like a google search you will rank higher on the hash tag for 4 main reasons
    1. the number of followers
    2. the number of +1s
    3 the number of reshares
    4, the number of comments

The traffic for ranking high on the hash tag for multiple tags can be substanial
I am not quoting others here I just showed you one of the sites I set up.

    Hi All,

Yes I agree with the thoughts Google+ is very beneficial for new business as well as established business to gain visibility in search results it is necessary to have business page. You also get a URL for the page. Take a look at shared information it is useful.

    Blended Search Results

Google+ content itself — meaning content you post to your page — can rank in search results in instances where your website may not. Each post has a unique URL and, when the content generates interaction, can potentially rank in search results!

Google’s also moving toward integrating social and more visually engaging information. Hashtag searches on Google integrate recent Google+ posts that utilize that hashtag!

Boy the information on this topic is very good. There is a lot of pros and some that are for Facebook. I use Google a lot and I like their products they give the person who has a website the opportunity to get notice, I think Google is King when it comes to the internet. Google was first to offer a search for products and people's interest. Facebook, I think is a social party so you can keep up to what your neighbors are doing. Google I think is for the person who wants to start up business on the internet and get branded for their interest in a special topic or product.

The only thing that I don't like with G+ is it doesn't have games or did I miss it?

However, if I were to rate between Facebook and G+ when it comes to conversion, G+ is obviously on top.

Google+ is actually a great marketing tool, alternative to Facebook.
Besides, it is not that hard to optimize.
What I do is that I blog and then join on communities relevant to my niche and share what I can share on the community, and that's it. It helps generate traffic to my site.
And oh, don't forget about using hashtags, liking posts and commenting on other posts as well.
It is a great way to attract followers.

I have a question in your post you say that you blog and join communities that are relevant to your niche. OK What do you use to find your communities? Google+? Facebook? Twitter? I also blog but are very careful about what links I put in a blog. So any info that you could share would be great.

You can find communities and lists to join in Google+, Facebook, and Twitter. And just to continue what everyone in this thread have said, Google+ is so important for SEO... it makes sense that Google would want us to use their social media platform!

I agree Google + is a great source for SEO and branding, I was told once that don't put all of your eggs in one basket. So I would not only use Google + for SEO but would go and check out other search engines or sites like Facebook, Twitter, Market Hive, and more. The social network today is growing and growing. The internet is changing every day, hour, and minute. Thank you for your information about how to find communities.

it is so easy to get facebook and google mixed up.

Facebook is for sheep - they follow but rarely search

Google searches (and finds) but users rarely follow

Hence list building is great for Google, and likes and newsfeeds are great for Facebook.

Want to get rich? Do both.

I can honestly received a lot of engagement on Google+ communities than Facebook Groups/Pages.
When I share my blog posts on Google+ I get a lot of +1 or shares. And the good thing about it, is that it ranks on SERP.

I don't know if I could consider Google+ to be way better than other social media sites. Sure, it helps a great deal, but I think all social media websites are powerful. It probably also depends on what you are sharing.

Google is the king on the internet when it comes to doing search engine searches. Google + is also top in the the social media internet right now but there are more social networks coming on line every day. I think it does depend on what you are posting and what you are sharing as to what social network will be best for you. Google +, Facebook, Twitter are the most popular now. But there is a new one that has promise of being the top one Social Neural Marketing System of 2015 and that is Market Hive.

Google+ is a social layer than extends across Google services like YouTube, Gmail and Google Search.

Once established, your public Google+ profile connects you across Google services and becomes your personal brand in the Google online space.

G+ is a more technical product than FB simply because it is still not know that well. The people who use it tend to run and build their own sites, so take the effort to learn. This is exactly the type of user Google wants.

Visitors to G+ tend to be more techno-savvy, affluent and expect higher quality. G+ has had a few revisions to expand its user base, which is vastly smaller than FB. However whilst FB can be viewed as the office timewaster for the selfie obsessed, G+ is much more for the professional with smaller, but real, friends and links.

I use G+ pages for all my sites, mainly to get then rapidly indexed by Google. Usually this happens in under an hour. I dont actually sell much through my G+ pages as I dont have that many products that fit the user profile - G+ users are unlikely to buy rebranded PLR

G+ is a growing market and with Google fast indexing there is no penalty for being late to join. That said, I see no advantage of being early, apart from aiding the SEO of your main authority site.

What originally started out as an alternative to Facebook has now evolved into Google's digital equivalent of the yellow pages. All of the local search results that you see in Google searches are actually links to Google Plus pages. Every business is assigned a Google Plus page even if you, the business owner, have not created a page for your company. Since all of the local searches for your product are diverted to a Google Plus page it is crucial that you claim ownership of your page and make sure all of the contact info is correct.
