How much time do you spend searching for content to share?

Hi guys,

I'm working on something new and just wanted to ask the community a quick couple of questions as part of my validation process.

1. Is content curation (sharing other people's relevant content) part of your Twitter strategy?
2. How much time do you spend each week searching for that content?
3. On a scale of 1 - 10, how much of a pain in the ass is searching for that content for you?

Thanks!

    1. No. I prefer to create my own content.

    2. None. I spend about 3-5 hours a week creating my own content.

    3. 10. Creating my own content is a lot easier, since I really like the niche I'm in.

It's easy to auto-share Twitter content with loads of softwares and tools. If you're doing this all manually without creating any of your own content, then chances are the effort you put in will not be worth it.

There are probably better investments of your time. But sharing other's "exceptional content" might be a good sliver of your overall strategy.

    Nope.
    Nope.
    None of the above.
When I do content marketing I do it on my own content.
The question is, why would I spend my time on others content when I can do it on my own and benefit from it?

I'm not here to tell you how to run your social strategy, just looking to collect some data.

But, if you're curious, the strategy behind curating content is to boost your brand's authority in your niche.

If people come to expect great content from you, they're more likely to click on and read the content you share.

And trying to produce that volume of content yourself and pump it out (say 3 Tweets per day) is nearly impossible.

It's kind of like, if you have a friend who is always telling you about the most amazing restaurant he ate at, or the best concerts he attended, you're more likely to listen to his recommendations than say, your other friend who is only ever talking about an amazing meal he made or a cool song he wrote.

There' a pretty good article about it here.

Anyways, again not saying anyone is wrong or right, just curious.

Well content curation is a part of the strategy. And more over searching for content is meaningfully defined in my case. There is no fixed no of content I share. basically which ever content I feel like sharing, I go ahead with the same. Weekly it comes to be 30 as well sometimes its 10 as well. So it depends. And the best part is I do get a tremendous no of followers increasing likewise.

Youve just got the word out of my mouth cause is much easier if you do it this way as long as the content you are sharing is meaningful or valuable to your readers or audience.

This safes a lot of time.

On twitter and other social networking sites most of the content shared are curated content and those that share this content still siphon some of the traffic to their own website one way on the other.

    1. Yeap. Curation helps to build an audience with whom you can share your content later
    2. 3-4 hours, but the longer you're in the industry the harder it's getting to find smt really valuable
    3. 8, coz now it's the time of rewriting and finding fresh, original & interesting content takes time

Yes content curation is part of my social media strategy. Since, the niche I am trying to promote is not that dynamic, I do have to looks t for good content on net.
I does take some time to pick the right content and to serve the purpose.
I would rate it 5. It sometimes get tougher, when you don't have much updates.

Content curation is extremely important for me. I always search for interesting things to tweet. Fortunately, my niches are very active so finding items isn't any trouble. I also use hootsuite and feedly. I continue to collect rss feeds from interesting sites for my feedly account. That brings a lot of really great content for me to choose from in just one control panel. Curating with these two tools is much easier. I encourage anyone using curation in their strategies to use feedly.

    So:
    1. yes
    2. an hour or so a day
    3. pain-the-ass level? hootsuite and feedly are awesome together so pain is no greater than a 2

Depending on the ad platform you pick, in-app ads have enormous reach and engagement potential. iAd and AdMob are well known but they are LEAST effective. There are many hot young innovators that get it right -- from ad networks like Airpush to social networks like Facebook.

If you want to share relevant content to your social media then I suggest you use Buffer. This tool offers great way to find and share relevant content on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other leading social media site. You can also schedule up to 10 content to automatically be posted to your sites at your preferred time so you can avoid wasting time finding new content every day and posting it.

    1) Content curation MUST be part of your Twitter strategy;
    2) Content on Twitter should always have emotional appeal for it to help you increase your presence. Therefore avoid posting filling your timeline with links to your blogs or you will alienate most of your existing and potential followers. Link a blog only if it is a further elaboration of a tweet which generated buzz.
    3) Content is the main pillar on Twitter so 90% of your time should be dedicated to it. Don't be afraid to be spontaneous as well.

Trash content = trash following. If people can't emotionally connect with you/trust you, you will never sell anything to them en masse. Period.

Yes! It's a great way to network with other entrepreneurs and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.

I guess 15 to 30 minutes a week. There's a lot of content being published everybody so you don't really have to work that hard looking for content to curate.

    1. It's not that hard to do. If you're naturally interested in your niche, you would WANT to read articles about it and you'd want to share them with your audience.

Personally, I prefer promoting my own content! However, this can be a good strategy, but only if you find content interesting enough to share, so your fans won't be "disappointed". If you only do it to make others follow you or share your content as a favor, then you might be doing it wrong.
