Starting a FB Group for Social Media Marketing Coaching

Hey everyone!

So I've been working on building up social media accounts in various niches and monetizing them, I haven't made a ton, maybe $100 in all so far, but I know the techniques well (just working on building up the audiences).

I had the idea of maybe once I get more experience and proof of revenue, of starting up a coaching program based in a private Facebook Group. Basically, people can buy membership into the group, and then I share my exclusive content, tips, resources, and help with problems from inside the group.

Is this a practical way of coaching? Would I need an already established reputation to get this to be successful?

Thanks everyone! Just an idea, so would love feedback!

Personally, I wouldn't trust any third-party site (in this case Facebook) to be the host of a private for-pay membership. IMO, this is something to do on your own hosted site.

One thing to remember about using FB or any social media site for your group: THEY own the accounts. So if there is a way to run a forum that duplicates FB messages from your group, that might work.

As many have seen recently, the biggest challenge is that FB can ban you, your ad account... whatever... at their whim.

At the very least, you would want to ensure you capture contact information off FB (particularly email) so you can maintain the group should FB crap on you.

And please, DON'T SELL ANY COACHING until you really know what you're doing. If you've only made $100 on FB, you have a little ways to go. I wouldn't try to sell coaching until you've spent at least a couple thousand on FB ads and have a solid grasp, especially their terms of service so you can stay out of hot water (meaning NOT banned).

Thanks for the reply! I agree that I need more experience, but I haven't really been doing it with Faceboook ads, the strategies are perhaps a little different than the popular social media marketing. But yeah, it would probably be smart to have some back up way to maintain the coaching group if Facebook starts having problems.

      Thanks!
