How to tell if you have good engagement

Hi, I have a fanpage of about 1300 likes right now and 650 "talking" about this. depending on what time or what day I post my updates I may get on average about 3-6 likes per post. I was wondering if there is a good formula in order to tell if your facebook fanpage engagement is good, poor, or excellent. thanks

    Hi Calidreams217,

I believe it really depends on what kind of fan page you have or the topic of it. Are the people that have liked your page passionate about your topic? And what kind of post are you doing?

Are your post created to get your fans engaged?

Like I said without knowing the background of your page its really hard to tell. But I will give some tips on how you could possibly increase fan page engagement.

    1. Ask questions - you can ask your group question to get them engaged in a topic, get peoples opinions etc.

2.Photos - Depending on your fanpage you can post pictures or memes that people would naturally want to share and like. You could even do "caption this photo" type of thing.

    3. Quotes and fill in the blanks - This goes with sharing content that will get people engaged with and share and like.

These are just some off the top of my head

any other questions feel free to ask!

A 1% engagement is a pretty good rule of thumb. Assuming your metric is click through rate.(CTR) how many people actually click on your link.

So lets say that your post reaches 100 targeted people. If only 1 person clicks through to your link on your post then your conversion is at 1% which could be good or bad depending on how difficult it was for you to reach those 100 people.

Check your insights on your fan page and check your numbers. Its one thing for people to like, comment, and share, but how many people are actually clicking on your link?

If it's not many then you should work on your post descriptions and images that you're using to increase that number. That is of course is you want more traffic to your website.

If not and you just want likes, comments, and shares then adjust to improve those numbers.

If these numbers are true, it also means that the 90-9-1 rule of thumb for social networks is under attack.( The rule that suggests that 1% is your naturally engaged audience, 9% your infrequently engaged audience, and 90% your unengaged audience.)
