Does my FB account have to be a certain age for me to run paid ads?

Back in early Feb, the FB ad account that I was using was blocked. I'm not sure of the exact reason, but all I was doing was sending traffic to my website. Each page had a number of pictures and about 1k-2k words of quality content, so they weren't "thin". I suspect that my suspension was due to the fact that the accout that I was using was not under my legal name. It was an account that I created under a nickname and was primarily used to access FB groups.

I didn't really think much of it since I've had that account for a few years or so. I only started using it for advertising back in October when I got into FB ads. The other thing was that the payment info didn't match the account name or location. I live in Canada, but I signed up the account with a random US city. I also logged into that account with my Canadian IP. I wasnt trying to hide or anything, I just thought it didn't really matter as long as I was paying for the ads.

Anyway, I'd like to get things going again, so I decided to signup a new account under my legal name with my correct address and payment info to match. I also plan to upload a pic and add a few friends(although I don't really use FB for socializing). I'm just wondering how long I might have to wait before I start running ads so as not to raise any red flags. Can anyone offer any guidance in this regard? Thanks.

Steve

Thanks for responding, but what does that mean? Do you mean I must have a fanpage associated with the account and have 10-20 posts on it? Or just post 10-20 updates on my personal account? I didn't have to do either of those things with the previous account, so I'm not sure that's accurate.

    Hi Steve,
I think age of the account does not matter at all, I create multiple facebook accounts and use facebook coupon and advertise same page.

The age of your account is not important, you can run ads as soon as you open a new Facebook account. However, do you know why they suspended your account before? If it were an issue related to the name you were using, i think they would have sent you a notice to change it or prove your nickname it's your real name or something.

I'm not sure that they ever really tell you why, but I was only using FB to drive traffic to my website(1-3k word content with lots of pics, similar to OP), so I can't really think of anything that might've been against policy. I think I only ever had one ad disapproved in several months of use.

They did ask if I had change payment info or noticed any suspicious activity on my account. I didn't bother to try and get it enabled because I don't have a gov't id with the info that I was using on it. I'll probably try again myself at some point.

    Got to love FB>

I do know when you start a new fan page you have to have 50 likes to kick it off and get started with ads on FB

  • If you do open a new FB account using your legal name and all, you would want to think on advertising a new domain.
I advice you that because if your account was banned then they sooner or later they will notice you are advertising the same domain and will likely make more research and eventually ban the new account too.

And about your location, IP, and payment method all should match to avoid red flags.
For example, if you are using a verified paypal account, this one has te have a valid CC when it's verified. And the name on it must match with the name in your FB account.
There are shortcuts but if you are planning to use your FB ads account for longer, then you would want to take aditional steps.
    Just my 2 cents.
