How do I deal with FaceBook's "unsafe link" message?

Hi all,

I'm trying to promote my squeeze page on facebook and for some reason, the link for that redirects to a "unsafe link" message page. I've had this issue in the past. It seems to only do it to my opt-in page but not to my regular website and occasionally on links to my blog post (on the same website) through my facebook sharing plugin.

The main one that concerns me is not being able to use facebook to drive traffic to my opt-in page. Does FB have a rule against opt-ins that I don't know about?

How do I fix this so I can move on?

Clinton

  • Are you using a url shortener?
Also, is your landing page made with software?
Are you targeting your audience the right way?
Many users will flag your ad if it is not relevant to them.

I'm not using a shortener but I am using optimizepress to create the squeeze page. Is it a common issue for optimizepress users?

I don''t really know if I'm targeting my audience properly. That could be the cause of the issue from late last year. This squeeze page didn't do to terribly well at the time. I also ran an ad for a skype interview series shortly after and I think that it was towards the end of that process that I started seeing the "unsafe link" message.

Whatever the cause, what would I have to do to get my link in the green again?

Ok. I just tested a few things on facebook and it turns out that any page regardless of whether its an optimizepress or just a link to my blog is showing an unsafe link message. When I put in a direct link is when it it triggers the unsafe link message.

It only seems to be the links to my blogs through my social media widget that seems to work fine.

    Any ideas?

P.S- Scratch that about the social media widget. Even those are triggering an "unsae link" message. Which is strange because they were working fine the other day.
