How my Aprils Fools post almost crashed my site
So I've been working on a new site for the last few months aimed at BMW enthusiasts. The concept is to document 'builds', for those not into cars, a build is basically when someone restores, converts or does something along those lines to a car.
So how did it go?
I drafted up the post in the early hours of April 1st and uploaded it to the site.
I then spent £1 on a Facebook ad targetted at Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia and made that 'live' at 3am UK time.
I stuck a scheduled post up timed for 8.30am UK time on two FB pages relating to BMW's I run which have been liked by 11,000 people and paid £1 for targetted ads on one aimed at UK/Ireland.
And it only went bloody viral
Next thing I know I have my hosting company on to me for excessive CPU use..
So yay to social media!
