Facebook ads question

Short version: Has anyone here been permitted to run Facebook ads to gain likes to their Facebook page in the MMO niche?

Long version: I have a blog that contains a mixture of tips (how to install Wordpress, how to build a mailing list, etc.) along with reviews of MMO products for which I am not an affiliate. I do promote a free product on the site, but aside from that, I'm not aggressively trying to monetize it at this time.

I do have a Facebook page that's tied to this site. My posts there are usually along the lines of "I just wrote a blog post about this Wordpress plugin" or "I just wrote a review of Product X on my site." I then provide a link to the content on my Website.

At the moment, I don't have very many likes on that Facebook page, and Facebook has been regularly contacting me about running ads to get more likes. OK, that's been helpful for other pages in the past, so I set up an ad campaign the other day. Nothing special; just a "Want to work from home? Like us!" banner with a related graphic.

I promptly received a message telling me that my ad was not approved, because:

Ads for “work from home”, get rich quick and other inaccurate money-making opportunities that offer compensation for little or no investment aren't allowed on Facebook. This includes pyramid schemes or other money-making business models which do not fully explain any product or opportunity that makes a claim of income.

OK, but that doesn't apply to me, since I'm not promoting ANY paid product on either my Facebook page or my Website. I replied to their message and pointed that out, and they replied with the very same message.

I know there are a ton of people with Facebook pages in the MMO niche, and I cannot imagine that Facebook has refused to run ads for all of them. I find it even stranger that Facebook keeps asking me to run ads when they clearly aren't willing to run them.

So, has anyone here been permitted to run Facebook ads to gain likes to their Facebook page in the MMO niche?

There's a link to my Facebook page in my signature, if anyone cares.

Charlie

    Hi,

Don't know if you received answer to your question. From my experience, I'd advise to be careful promoting IM/MMO related page on Facebook - Whether for likes or clicks.

If your ad has been disapproved for this reason, I'd stay away from convincing them to approve it. I have tried it, and now my account is disable temporarily for running FB campaigns.

    Hope this helps.
