How many hashtags do you use?

We all know how important hashtags are when it comes to posting updates on websites like Twitter and Facebook. My question is, roughly how many do you try and put into each update? Do you try and stuff it with as many as possible, or just a few for the most common keywords?

I usually use hashtags on twitter and I use 2-3 tags in the post wherever possible.

Two to three hashtags are enough for me. Anything more than that is considered a spam, since it shortens the length of the actual tweet itself, unless you put them into the actual sentence. Although I still think three hashtags should work for you, if they're related to the topic of course.

2-3 Hashtags are the most common but it also depends on what site and how much relativity the words you are hash tagging hold. Twitter you can get away with a little more as long as relativity stays strong in each hashtag, there is nothing wrong with using more then 2-3 as the more you put the more keywords are used out there, Facebook you should rarely use hashtags but if you do so only use 2-3 strong relativity keywords.

I would say 1-2, if necessary 3 at most. Anymore than that they all jumble together and get lost.

1 or 2 hashtags are optimal. Engagement will decrease if you use more.

If required, then I would go 2 or 3 but as for me, this would actually depends on the article or update you're posting. But normally, I think 2 or 3 is just enough.

Using 2 to 3 hash tags related to your field or relevancy is recommended. But when using hash tags in Instagram I would prefer more to be used.

I tend to use only one hashtag in a tweet. Too many and it can look spammy. Also I feel it affects the reading of a sentence. Also some people have themes where the hashtag link is in a colour which almost blends with background colour in turn making it hard to read the word. Just my thoughts :-)

    Use 1-3.

Don't duplicate your headline or lead sentence with hashtag. (You do use most important
keyword at start of tweet, don't you?)

    Use Hashtagify as a resource.

You can use up to 30 tags on a post. If you include more than 30 tags on a single photo/video, your comment won't post.

    I almost NEVER use hashtags.

In my experience hashtags are massively overused and make content seem forced.

Provide genuine content for your readers and don't try to cheaply take advantage of existing trends.

Search engines and social netowrks' internal search can find your content just fine without hashtags.

Twitter use keywords in your bio in search results when people are looking for similar to follow. You can include a hashtag, also link or another Twitter handle if need.

They’re used for categorization on social media. Yes, they can be annoying if overused. It's best to use 2 to 3 hashtags. When you use more than two hashtags, your engagement actually drops by an average of 17 percent. I've came to know this from a social media management software called Socioboard.

Don't use hashtags in Facebook Posting if it is not required and you can use 1 hashtag for tweeting in twitter. This is the best way to increase social media engagement.
