As above is twitterfeed.com any good for automating posts.

Or should I pay for social oomph. Social also has feature to direct message. Quite expensive though at 35 dollars per month.

Yeah, HootSuite is good. If you use WordPress you can also download SNAP plugin which stands for Social Networks Auto Poster.

  Thanks for all the replies. How many use an auto responder to send a welcome email to people who join your list. It seems that social oomph paid does this but not others. Is it such an important feature anyway.

If your site is on wordpress definitely go for SNAP, it's a free plugin that you can use to automate your posts to a lot of social media platforms, even a couple that others don't have. Every time you post something new it will automatically post a snippet along with a link back to your new post on all the social media platforms that you set up.
