How do you kill it with facebook advertising?

Hi,
So I've been playing around with the whole options accordion of facebook advertising options for a while now, and basically found it worthless for at least 3 niches, all for almost 2 months campaign each in ranges from $1 to $10 daily budget and absolutely 0 sales, all capmaigns where affiliate products promoted trough a blog post or even direct link:
  • Web Design
  • Weight Loss
  • Webhosting

Maybe it was my approach, copy or images (all paid for as well).

My question is:

Have you had success with facebook ads in the past? can you be kind enough to share the knowledge with the comunity? is it my theory of "facebook ads sux" correct?

Im trying to figure out affiliate marketing... but not getting it! my next experiment is with youtube as many people affirm they are making money with it here.

Thanks

Hey Ricardo, so what kinda CTR's are we looking at...?

..and what does your landing page look like ?

What I also noticed is you have entered 3 very competitive niches, so this could lead to higher advertising cost and you have to understand people are probably exposed to those kind of advertisements all day = less likely to click on your ad.

Your Copy + Ad Image is just as important so unless you mind sharing those... can't really critique any further on where you might be going wrong.

Hope this helps PM me if you want to chat about this further !

Well Collie I've tried many things, usually I go to graphics river or photo dune for premium pics, or just pick a good one from the facebook catalog.

As for copy I usually get 150 words written on iWritter for niche/product keyword Im targeting. I think the ad looks nice, but what Im trying to figure out is exactly what you pointed, how to get a great campaign i order to get a great result in a competitive niche.

My way of thinking is that if I pay more than $10 a day for facebook ad I would have to do like 6 sales to just recover my investment, and > 6 to start profiting, kind of a hard descition to make I dont want to blow $100 in one day and make 0 sales as usual

Can you advise on how to pick the right niche? and find some products?

      Thanks

Web design & web hosting would be much harder, because usually people who will click on such ads are business owners of sort, and Facebook is meant as a place of relaxation, not so much work. Wouldn't recommend you to do web design & web hosting advertising on Facebook.

As for weight loss, yes it can work, need to ask you more details about your weight loss offer and ads before I can give advice though.

    What's your:
    - product (e.g. diet calorie software, PDF, etc?)
    - target audience? (men/women, age, e.t.c.)

Sorry to say it man but Facebook ads are very much still alive.

Due to their recent updates though over the past year, it's weeded out about 95% of marketers.

I work in the diet/skin trial space and have advertisers sending thousands of dollars of sales a day to my company's products.

Anyone killing it on Facebook will never reveal their secrets. Never.
This is how they make an income, and a very good income at that.

I can't even squeeze out info from my own advertisers.

But I have dabbled in Facebook ads myself and I can tell you this: There is a lot going on that most people do not know about. Whitehat ads almost never make money. Blackhat ads are where people are killing it.

But this involves a rather large operation. Hundreds of accounts at your disposal (they usually get banned anywhere from 2-7 days). And a large sum of money to play around with. You have to spend thousands to test and find the winning ads, then scale. Some advertisers I work with are capable of sending $50k+ in sales a day from Facebook.

I'm sure there are some other guys making money on a smaller scale, but I can't help you there. I've never been interested in small money!

Anyways, hope this sheds some light on your problem. May not be the answer you were looking for, but I thought I'd share because I was fortunate enough to have someone (my cousin) show me a little bit of the Blackhat side of Facebook, and introduce me to a lot of super affiliates within the industry. And anyone worth learning from will not tell you how they kill it on Facebook.

Facebook rocks when done right. Instead of selling directly using ads, I use it to build communities which I then monetize in multiple ways.

Quality content and proper targeting will fix. Do not try to stack people with OFFERS OFFERS and more OFFERS. Give them something for free like valuable information and promote this, not offers directly.
