Facebook - Domain name as Fan Page name?

Hello,
Does Facebook allow to use a domain name as Fan Page name?
(e.g. "Cookiesforweightloss.tips"?)
And a corresponding URL with username as URL...
(something like "...facebook.com/cookiesforweightlosstips"?)
Thank you!
#domain #facebook #fan #fan page #page #username

You're using new extension just like me, my solution on this is including tips in your brand name. You don't have to state that in page name i think.

So you might go with "Cookies For Weight Loss Tips," and for the Facebook url it could be fb.com/cookiesforweightlessdottips" since most of the time that kind of url is usually occupied by marketer already. So by adding "dot tips" it would strengthen your brand name.

Thanks for your answer and advice.

I already thought of using something like "Cookies for Weight Loss Tips",
but then -- for other reasons -- I would prefer using the pure, real domain name as Fan Page name.
The question is, would they accept it?

(The idea of "dot" before the extension is good in case it's unavailable.)
      Thanks again.

I don't think that would work, here is the Facebook policy on how to name your page, and i know you're not allowed to use period (.)

    https://www.facebook.com/help/262981810477512

    Page names can't include:
    • Terms or phrases that may be abusive or violate someone's rights.
    • Improper capitalization. Page names must use grammatically correct capitalization and may not include all capital letters, except for acronyms.
    • Symbols (ex: ® ) or unnecessary punctuation.
    • Long descriptions, such as a slogan. People who manage Pages can add this information to a Page's About section.
    • Any variation of the word "Facebook." Learn more at Brand Resources.
    • Misleading words. If a Page isn't the official Page of a brand, place, organization or public figure, the Page name can't mislead others into thinking it's an official Page or that it's managed by an authorized representative.

Thanks. From where do you know that a period is not allowed?
I had already read these terms you referred to, but IMO it's not clear at all.
They don't say Domain names are not allowed.
They say names can't include "unnecessary punctuation",
but in a domain name, the period isn't unnecessary -- in contrary
it's an integral part of the domain name, isn't it?

Has anyone already experience with such a case?

The best and most fastest way is to go to "create page" section in your Facebook and try it your self, but if i'm correct i think i've tried this long time ago already and i think it didn't work.

But it's okay to try, would take you 2 mins to do that

Would be great if it's so easy! You mean if it's accepted in the first place,
this confirms that it's in accordance with their terms?

(I was afraid it could be automatically accepted first, and then later -- when the page
is used -- be reviewed and cause problems. Heard scary FB stories... )

No it would automatically rejects you if the name doesn't pass the criteria, especially something like including period or symbol.

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. Where have you specified the type "website"?

Follow my instruction, simply go to "create page," on your Facebook search bar, and follow the image below, don't forget to make sure that you create page for "website" under "Brand or Product"

Thanks, now I see! I haven't been at that point yet.
So this is just a Fan Page for making ads for that website I guess.
Probably a landing page. Then that Fan Page won't need much content.
          Great.

I know that you can have a "." in the name because I accidentally put one there in mine. If you go to https://www.facebook.com/diane.merriam you get me. If you try https://www.facebook.com/dianemerriam without the "." it also goes to me and puts the period back in. Maybe it's different on fan pages. Something I've never checked.

Actually to keep your fan excited you should update it regularly, you may aim to create good women community who loves baking and wants to lose their weight there.

So basically, the basic content can be anything related to them.

The contents don't need to be all yours you can work as a curator and share some interesting posts or infographic from other sites as well, including your own blog.
